Willie Desjardins became the 18th Head Coach in Canucks history on June 23, 2014.Desjardins served as Head Coach of Texas for two seasons compiling a 91-40-21 (.667) regular season record in 152 AHL games and led theStars to a Calder Cup Championship in 2014. He was awarded the Louis A. R. Pieri Award in 2013. Desjardins also served as an AssociateCoach with Dallas for two years.From 2002-2010 Desjardins was Head Coach of Medicine Hat (WHL) adding the role of GM in 2005. Desjardins twice led the Tigers toWHL championships in 2003.04 and 2006.07 seasons. In two Memorial Cup berths Desjardins’ Tigers advanced to the Finals once in 2007.Desjardins was awarded the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy (WHL) and presented with the Brian Kilrea Coach of the Year Award (CHL). Internationally, Desjardins has represented Canada as Head Coach in 2010 (silver) and Assistant Coach in 2009 (gold) at the World JuniorChampionships. He was Assistant Coach for the Canadian national men’s team in 1999.

Paul Maurice, 48, is in his second season as Head Coach of the Winnipeg Jets after being appointed to the position on January 12, 2014.When Maurice was hired, the Jets went on a four-game winning streak and won eight of their first 10 under the new Head Coach. He signed afour-year extension with the Jets on April 16, 2014. Entering 2014-15, Maurice had earned a career NHL coaching record of 478-469-172 in 15 seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes/HartfordWhalers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Jets. He won his 400th career NHL game when the Hurricanes defeated the Buffalo Sabres in overtimeon Feb. 11, 2010, and on Nov. 28, 2010, he became the 19th coach, and the youngest in history, to coach 1,000 NHL games. In his first headcoaching stint with the Hurricanes, Maurice guided Carolina to the 2002 Eastern Conference title and two Southeast Division crowns. On March16, 2010, he became just the 10th coach in NHL history to spend more than 800 games behind the bench for one franchise.
