Secondly, we are planning to release V8, 5,7 inch models in Summer 2008.
For TFT color model, we will release V806iTD, V806TD.
They are corresponding to V706TD+DU-01.
As you can see, we are going to release “I” and “ without I” models for 5,7 inches too.
The concept is the same as other sizes. “I” is high perfromance model and “without I “ is standard model.
For STN color, we will release V806iCD and V806CD.
They are corresponding to V706CD + DU-01.
For Monochrome, we will release V806iMD and V806MD.
They are corresponding to V706MD + DU-01.

Firstly, I show you 12.1 inch model “V812iSD” and “V812SD”.
That is corresponding to V712SD.
The specifications are,

And USB Master and Salve.
That’s The Point!!
OK, This “That’s the point” means that I give you very important information to take note now.
The most important information for you is “How V8 is difference from V7”.
So now, I show you the differences between V8 and V7.
64K color: V7 color is 32K, so the number of colors get double.
13M byte FROM: V7 FROM was 5M, so it is more than double. (Proface AGP 8M)
512K byte SRAM: V7 SRAM was 64K, so it is 8 times larger. (Proface AGP 320K)
USB Master and Slave on board: V7 series, only V715 and V706.
You see how V8 is improved from V7.
OK, that’s all about 12.1 inch model, V812SD.

I show you 10.4 inch model “V810SD” and “V810TD” corresponding to V710SD and V710TD.
As the same with V7 series, we have 2 difference 10 inch models having different resolutions.
S is SVGA, T is VGA.
The specifications of V810S are,

As you know, Communication is the most basic and important functions for HMI.

MJ2: RJ45, RS232C, RS422/485

Firstly, I show you the most basic one, serial port.
As the same with V7 series, V8 has 3 serial ports.
CN1 port: D-Sub 9 pins port, that supports RS232C, RS422/485. As you noticed, the type of connector was change from 25 pins to 9 pins.
MJ 1: RJ45 connector, RS232C, RS422/485.
MJ 2: RJ45 connector, RS232C, RS422/485.
V8 keeps one of the best merit of Monitouch, “All 3 serial ports has RS232C, RS422/485”
With these 3 serial ports, PLC connection, Tem CTRL connection, PC connection, and more and more are possible.

- Ethernet
The next one is Ethernet.
Ethernet is recently very standardized and maybe much more important than serial.
V8i series has Ethernet on board.
It supports 100Base TX/10Bse T
Of course, You can use Ethernet with V8(without i) by attaching CU-03 unit.
That’s The Point.
The point is, You can use only Ethernet port on board or only CU-03 port on V7i.
You have to select one of these.
But you can use both of Ethernet port on board and CU-03 port on V8i at the same time.
Dual Ethernet drive is possible on V8i.

The next one is USB.
As I mentioned, all V8 series has USB master and USB slave on board.
For V7 series, only V715 and V706 have USB ports.
But for V8 series, all the V8 models has USB master and slave on board.

Next, other interfaces like Comm. I/F for field bus, Media I/F for Video, RGB and Sound and CF Card slot.
Of course, you can attach CU-xx unit to all V8 models to use Field bus connection like Profibus.
And V8i series has a I/F for Media connection for Vide, RGB and Sound.
That’s The Point.
We will have 2 new concept I/F options for media function.

Of course, all V8 has one CF Card slot on board.

I will show you the V8 new functions now with these 6 items.

The first one is 8 way communication.
As the name says, one V8 can communicate up to 8 different types of devices at a time.
V7 has dual driver function.
So the number of connected devices got 4 times larger.

The first one is 8way connection only with Serial Connection.
As I mentioned, V8 has 3 serial ports.
You can connect one type of device to each serial port.
So totally, one V8 can communicate with 3 different types of devices only by serial at a time.
And of course, all 3 ports has RS422/485, so you can connect up to 31 devices to each serial port.
For example, you can connect Siemens MPI PLC to CN1, Modbus Thermo controller to MJ1 and Fuji Inverter to MJ2 at a time.
It is very interesting to use 3 different protocols on one V8.
But it is also very interesting to use only Modbus RTU for all 3 ports.
Modbus RTU for CN1, Modbus RTU for MJ1 and Modbus RTU for MJ2.
For example, there are 3 different types of Modbus RTU devices.
All of them have Modbus RTU protocols.
OK, so they can be connected to only one port like CN1.
In some case, Yes, but in other cases No.
If all these 3 have different communication parameter settings, it is not possible to connect to one port even if the protocol is same.
In case of V7, we had to give up…
But V8 can communicate with 3 different Modbus RTU devices with 3 different communication parameter setting.

The second example is 8Way connection with Ethernet.
In case of Ethernet, there is no physical limitation like Serial connection.
So you can connect 8 different devices to one V8 at a time.
OK, then, when do customers need to connect 8 different devices at a time?
Of course, nobody does not use this for one machine.
But for example, in case of end users like automobile manufacturer,
Conveyor with Mitsubishi, Press with Siemens, Welding with AB, Assembling with Modbus, inspection with OMRON and etc….
If they want to collect information from their production line, what can they do?
If they do not have V8, they Buy Profibus I/F card to all PLC, buy Profibus cable and change PLC program??
If I am in their position, I don’t want….
If they use V8, they buy Ethernet hub/switch, buy straight cable and connect them.
That’s all.
If I am in their position, I want to do it.

For example, you connect 3 different devices to CN1, MJ1 and MJ2.
Now V8 is using 3 protocol.
As max, we can use 8 protocol.
So we can use the rest 5 protocol on Ethernet.
We can use the combination of serial and Ethernet like this.
That’s all about 8way connections.
V8 can run up to 8 protocol at a time.
Due to physical limitation, we can connect up to 3 different devices by serial.
We can connect up to 8 different devices by Ethernet.

The first new function of Ethernet is “Double Ethernet Interface”.
As I mentioned at Chapter 2, It is possible to use onboard Ethernet port and CU-03 on V8i at a time.
In case of V7, if you want to connect PLC at Factory and connect PC at office to one V7, you have to use onboard Ethernet port or CU-03.
So the communication can be very heavy due to the data exchange between V7 and PLC and V7 and PC.
In case of V8i, you can use onboard Ethernet port and CU-03 at a time.

First one is FTP Server.
As you know, FTP is a very standard protocol to upload and download data.
We do not need any special software to use FTP protocol.
We can use our normal web-browser software for FTP.
So it means that you can read and write any data from/to V8 from your PC without any special software.
In case of V7, you need to make special program by our CF card DLL.
Or you need to buy V-Server license.
In case of V8, thanks to FTP server function, we need neither time nor money.
Second one is Remote Desktop.
With Remote Desktop function, you can see your PC screen on your V8 via Ethernet.
Operators can see any documentations like PDF manuals stored on the PC from V8.
Without RGB option, you can realize this function just with Ethernet connection.
Third one is Web Camera.
V8 can show the Video image of web camera with Motion JPEG technology.
It will be very interesting for Building automation and Home automation.
Fourth one is Web Browser.
As you do on PC, you can surf internet on V8.
You can see HTML files, picture files and etc.
The last one is MES I/F function.
MES stands for Manufacturing Execution System.
MES is used to measure and control production activity.
It increase traceability, productivity and quality.
MES is very useful but very expensive solution.
So we offer you low cost and easy solution that works like MES.
MES I/F function allows you to collect all the data from V8 and PLC and store them in DB on your PC.
We can do the same even with V7.
But you need some settings on V-Server and you need to write long macro to do it with V7.
With V8 MES I/F function, all you have to do is filling some information on attribute table on V-SFT, like which data to which data base file and etc, and starting V-Server.
That’s all. You do not need any setting on V-Server and long macro. And you do not need any special software.
That’s all about V8 Ethernet functions.

I am sorry but you had many troubles by V7 Video function.
V7 has many interesting video functions, like 4 channel display, Snap, zoom and etc.
But the video display was slow…
V8 solve this problem.
V8 shows 30 shots per second.
It is more than 4 times faster.
So we can enjoy very smooth video display on V8.
And V8 has much higher number of colors.
V7 has 32K colors
V8 has 16million colors.

First one is for USB Slave.
I think that this is one of the best merit of V8.
V8 has PictBridge protocol.
PictBridge is a standard protocol widely used for Digital Camera.
“Widely used for Digital Camera” means that almost all famous printer in the market have PictBridge protocol.
This means that we can use almost all famous printers in the market for V8….
I executed search by “Pictbridge printer” by amazon.com
This is the result.

That’s The Point.
Now, we do not have to make a list of compatible printers!!

USB-A (Maestro) interface
Nuevos equipos USB.
The next one is new function of USB Master connection.
We will support the connection of USB Keyboard and USB mouse.
Of course, it is very useful to use it when V8 shows PC image like this.
But the merit is not only this.
It is very useful to use this function in case that V8 is put little bit far back from operators.
For example, very big boat like pleasure boat of Arabian Oil Magnate.
In the cockpit, HMI like Monitouch is put far back due to many instruments.

The next one is also new function of USB Master interface.
You can connect CF CARD Reader/Writer to USB port.
And, of course, V8 has onboard CF Card slot.
We can exchange any data between these 2 CF card drives.
In case of V706 and V715, it is also possible to connect CF card reader/writer.
But it is not possible to use it together with onboard CF card slot at a time.
But, it is possible on V8.
For example, you save logging data on CF card on onboard slot.
You connect CF card reader/writer on USB and you can move the logging data from this CF Card to this CF card.
We do not have to open the cabinet, stop the operation of Monitouch and remove the CF card and etc…..
It is very simple, just insert another CF card and move the data. That’s all.

Second one is “Multi Output”.
With one switch action, you can set/reset up to 16 bits.
What is the merit of this function?
For example, it is very useful to make radio button.
For example, you have these 3 switch to set Low Speed, Medium Speed or High speed.
You set the speed by setting a bit.
In this case, more than 2 bits should not be set. Always, only one bit should be set.
When you push Low Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
When you push Medium Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
When you push High Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
Thanks to set/reset up to 16 bits, it is very easy to make Radio button like this.
That’s The Point.

All you have to do is check “Output Memory” and “Select the bits”.
That’s all.

The next one is “ON Delay” and “OFF Delay”.
I think that I do not have to explain you what I mean by ON Delay and OFF Delay.
I show you how V8 ON Delay and OFF Delay function work.
About ON Delay, when you push the switch, the touch switch becomes ON.
But the output memory is not set until the on delay time pass.
When the on delay time pass, the bit is set.
About OFF Delay, when you push the switch, the touch switch becomes OFF.
But the output memory is not reset until the off delay time pass.
When the off delay time pass, the bit is reset.
That’s The Point.
No Marco, No PLC Program.
All you have to do is setting ON Delay time or Off delay time on V-SFT.
That’s all.

What is the difference with Overlap.
I show you an example.
It works like this.
I push “Line Operation” switch, Pop up window appears and ask me OK? Or Cancel?
If I push OK, the function “Line Operation” will be executed.
If I push Cancel, the function “Line Operation” cannot be executed.
OK, we can do this on V7.
Yes, but, in order to do this, I have to set SW function, Edit Overlap, Set SW function, put message, set SW Function to hide overlap and and and….
OK, anyway we can do it….
But, with V8 POP-UP window function, all you have to do is setting of SW function and check “SHOW POP-UP Window” box.
That’s all. With this setting, the pop-up window and OK and Cancel sw can be made automatically by V-SFT.
It is very useful and easy function.
That’s all about V8 new switch functions.

As you know, Monitouch as memo pad function.
You can write anything you want on Monitouch by your finger thanks to our analog touch switch.
The memo pad function is improved very much.
The memo pad on V8 can be displayed on your PC via Ethernet.
That’s The Point.
For example, if you are working in Clean room, it is very useful.
It is not so easy to go in and out clean room.
You have to wear special clothes, you have to sterilize and etc.

For example, you make a screen like this.
And you can decide “To Show” or “To hide” for each item.
If you select “To Show”, the item will be displayed on V8.
If you select “To Hide”, the item will not be displayed on V8.
It is very useful for OEM customers who make one type of machine with some different specifications depending on the customer.
Customer A can use this function, but customer B cannot use this function.
That’s The Point.
You can use the same screen program for both of customer A and B.

The second one of Item Visibility is “Dynamic Visibility”.
You can decide “to show” or “to hide” for each item by integer or bit setting dynamically.
For example, a bit is set, these switches are displayed and you can do all operations.
But if the bit is reset, these 2 switches are not displayed and you cannot do the operations.
That’s the Point.
We can prohibit some operation of the machine depending on the situation.
We can call it “Interlock by Visibility”.

The Third one of Item Visibility is “Change visibility by Security Level”.
You can decide “To Show” or “To Hide” for each item by Password level.
For example, I log on the screen with Maintenance Level password, V8 shows all the switches.
If I log on the screen with Operator Level password, V8 does not show some of the switches.
That’s The Point.
We do not need any Macro commands to check the password level.
All we have to do is decide “To show” or “To hide” for each item for each Password Level on V-SFT.
V8 automatically recognize the password level and decided to show/hide each item automatically.
That’s all about Item Visibility function.

This is “Operation Log” function.
How does it work?
V8 logs information Who, when, what and how for switch operation and changing values.
For example, If I change the value, V8 automatically log the information, Who: Operator Shinji Kuroda, What: Change the value of Mold Opening High Speed, How: from 20 to 25, When: 14:36 of 31st Aug 2007.
As the same with normal logging function, the data can be stored in CSV file in CF card.
So you can check the logs directly on V8 and you can check the logs on your PC too.
This Operation Log function can best suit Pharmaceutical application that needs “21 FCR Part11”.
This can be a very big weapon to specialize in Pharmaceutical industry.
That’s why I think that Operation log is one of the best function of V8.

Firstly, I show you the most basic one, serial port.
As the same with V7 series, V8 has 3 serial ports.
CN1 port: D-Sub 9 pins port, that supports RS232C, RS422/485. As you noticed, the type of connector was change from 25 pins to 9 pins.
MJ 1: RJ45 connector, RS232C, RS422/485.
MJ 2: RJ45 connector, RS232C, RS422/485.
V8 keeps one of the best merit of Monitouch, “All 3 serial ports has RS232C, RS422/485”
With these 3 serial ports, PLC connection, Tem CTRL connection, PC connection, and more and more are possible.

Ethernet is recently very standardized and maybe much more important than serial.

The first one is 8way connection only with Serial Connection.
As I mentioned, V8 has 3 serial ports.
You can connect one type of device to each serial port.
So totally, one V8 can communicate with 3 different types of devices only by serial at a time.
And of course, all 3 ports has RS422/485, so you can connect up to 31 devices to each serial port.
For example, you can connect Siemens MPI PLC to CN1, Modbus Thermo controller to MJ1 and Fuji Inverter to MJ2 at a time.
It is very interesting to use 3 different protocols on one V8.
But it is also very interesting to use only Modbus RTU for all 3 ports.
Modbus RTU for CN1, Modbus RTU for MJ1 and Modbus RTU for MJ2.
For example, there are 3 different types of Modbus RTU devices.
All of them have Modbus RTU protocols.
OK, so they can be connected to only one port like CN1.
In some case, Yes, but in other cases No.
If all these 3 have different communication parameter settings, it is not possible to connect to one port even if the protocol is same.
In case of V7, we had to give up…
But V8 can communicate with 3 different Modbus RTU devices with 3 different communication parameter setting.

OK, then, when do customers need to connect 8 different devices at a time?
Of course, nobody does not use this for one machine.
But for example, in case of end users like automobile manufacturer,
Conveyor with Mitsubishi, Press with Siemens, Welding with AB, Assembling with Modbus, inspection with OMRON and etc….
If they want to collect information from their production line, what can they do?
If they do not have V8, they Buy Profibus I/F card to all PLC, buy Profibus cable and change PLC program??
If I am in their position, I don’t want….
If they use V8, they buy Ethernet hub/switch, buy straight cable and connect them.

The first new function of Ethernet is “Double Ethernet Interface”.
As I mentioned at Chapter 2, It is possible to use onboard Ethernet port and CU-03 on V8i at a time.
In case of V7, if you want to connect PLC at Factory and connect PC at office to one V7, you have to use onboard Ethernet port or CU-03.
So the communication can be very heavy due to the data exchange between V7 and PLC and V7 and PC.
In case of V8i, you can use onboard Ethernet port and CU-03 at a time.

First one is FTP Server.
As you know, FTP is a very standard protocol to upload and download data.
We do not need any special software to use FTP protocol.
We can use our normal web-browser software for FTP.

In case of V7, you need to make special program by our CF card DLL.
Or you need to buy V-Server license.
In case of V8, thanks to FTP server function, we need neither time nor money.
Second one is Remote Desktop.
With Remote Desktop function, you can see your PC screen on your V8 via Ethernet.
Operators can see any documentations like PDF manuals stored on the PC from V8.
Without RGB option, you can realize this function just with Ethernet connection.
Third one is Web Camera.
V8 can show the Video image of web camera with Motion JPEG technology.
It will be very interesting for Building automation and Home automation.
Fourth one is Web Browser.
As you do on PC, you can surf internet on V8.
You can see HTML files, picture files and etc.
The last one is MES I/F function.
MES stands for Manufacturing Execution System.
MES is used to measure and control production activity.
It increase traceability, productivity and quality.
MES is very useful but very expensive solution.
So we offer you low cost and easy solution that works like MES.
MES I/F function allows you to collect all the data from V8 and PLC and store them in DB on your PC.
We can do the same even with V7.
But you need some settings on V-Server and you need to write long macro to do it with V7.
With V8 MES I/F function, all you have to do is filling some information on attribute table on V-SFT, like which data to which data base file and etc, and starting V-Server.
That’s all. You do not need any setting on V-Server and long macro. And you do not need any special software.
That’s all about V8 Ethernet functions.

V7 has many interesting video functions, like 4 channel display, Snap, zoom and etc.
But the video display was slow…

But it is not possible to use it together with onboard CF card slot at a time.
But, it is possible on V8.
For example, you save logging data on CF card on onboard slot.
You connect CF card reader/writer on USB and you can move the logging data from this CF Card to this CF card.
We do not have to open the cabinet, stop the operation of Monitouch and remove the CF card and etc…..

What is the merit of this function?
For example, it is very useful to make radio button.
For example, you have these 3 switch to set Low Speed, Medium Speed or High speed.
You set the speed by setting a bit.
In this case, more than 2 bits should not be set. Always, only one bit should be set.
When you push Low Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
When you push Medium Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
When you push High Speed, only this bit is set and others must be reset.
Thanks to set/reset up to 16 bits, it is very easy to make Radio button like this.
That’s The Point.

About ON Delay, when you push the switch, the touch switch becomes ON.
But the output memory is not set until the on delay time pass.
When the on delay time pass, the bit is set.
About OFF Delay, when you push the switch, the touch switch becomes OFF.
But the output memory is not reset until the off delay time pass.
When the off delay time pass, the bit is reset.
That’s The Point.

Yes, but, in order to do this, I have to set SW function, Edit Overlap, Set SW function, put message, set SW Function to hide overlap and and and….

But, with V8 POP-UP window function, all you have to do is setting of SW function and check “SHOW POP-UP Window” box.
That’s all. With this setting, the pop-up window and OK and Cancel sw can be made automatically by V-SFT.

We have 3 different types of “Item Visibility” function.
Static Visibility
Dynamic Visibility
For example, you make a screen like this.
And you can decide “To Show” or “To hide” for each item.
If you select “To Show”, the item will be displayed on V8.
If you select “To Hide”, the item will not be displayed on V8.
It is very useful for OEM customers who make one type of machine with some different specifications depending on the customer.
Customer A can use this function, but customer B cannot use this function.
That’s The Point.
You can use the same screen program for both of customer A and B.

The second one of Item Visibility is “Dynamic Visibility”.
You can decide “to show” or “to hide” for each item by integer or bit setting dynamically.
For example, a bit is set, these switches are displayed and you can do all operations.
But if the bit is reset, these 2 switches are not displayed and you cannot do the operations.
That’s the Point.
We can prohibit some operation of the machine depending on the situation.
We can call it “Interlock by Visibility”.
OK, this is the Dynamic Visibility”.

No hay Macros para verificar el nivel de seguridad del password.
La V8 esconde/muestra el objeto en función del password.

The Third one of Item Visibility is “Change visibility by Security Level”.
You can decide “To Show” or “To Hide” for each item by Password level.
For example, I log on the screen with Maintenance Level password, V8 shows all the switches.
If I log on the screen with Operator Level password, V8 does not show some of the switches.
That’s The Point.
We do not need any Macro commands to check the password level.
All we have to do is decide “To show” or “To hide” for each item for each Password Level on V-SFT.
V8 automatically recognize the password level and decided to show/hide each item automatically.
That’s all about Item Visibility function.

Let me say, “Last but not least”.
I think that this is one of the best function of V8 series.
This is “Operation Log” function.
How does it work?
V8 logs information Who, when, what and how for switch operation and changing values.
For example, If I change the value, V8 automatically log the information, Who: Operator Shinji Kuroda, What: Change the value of Mold Opening High Speed, How: from 20 to 25, When: 14:36 of 31st Aug 2007.
As the same with normal logging function, the data can be stored in CSV file in CF card.
So you can check the logs directly on V8 and you can check the logs on your PC too.
This Operation Log function can best suit Pharmaceutical application that needs “21 FCR Part11”.
This can be a very big weapon to specialize in Pharmaceutical industry.
That’s why I think that Operation log is one of the best function of V8.
