The UWA Extension Summer 2015 community courses start from mid-January through to the end of March.
Courses are arranged chronologically – be sure to visit extension.uwa.edu.au to make an enrolment or find the latest information about any course.
Online courses run every 6 weeks all through the year and are a great way to expand your knowledge and skills at a more convenient and relaxed pace.

Who can enrol in these courses?Our community courses are open to the general public; you do not need to be part of UWA to enrol, but you do have to be be at least 16 years old.
How do I enrol in a course?You can search, choose and enrol in your course at extension.uwa.edu.au. You’ll need to provide a name and contact email for each person enrolling. Course fees need to be paid in full using your credit/debit card.
How do I know when I’m enrolled and where to go?An enrolment confirmation for each student and a tax invoice for the payer will be sent to the email address you give us. You can also check on your enrolments or the time and place through the Student Portal at extension.uwa.edu.au/student-portal.
What if I need to cancel or switch my enrolment?If you change your mind or wish to transfer to another course date, you’ll need to email us at least 10 working days before your course starts at [email protected], which will incur a $16.50 administration fee.Do your venues offer universal access?In most cases, yes. Please let us know well before enrolling in your course if you have any specific access or mobility requirements.

Grasp the basics of photography in a weekend. Learn how a digital camera works, the jargon, and some simple foolproof tips. Bring along your failed photos and find out what went wrong. Practical information that every photographer needs to know will be offered.

Mindfulness 101Eric Harrison
Mindfulness is both a Buddhist practice and a psychological therapy. In this workshop Eric Harrison from the Perth Meditation Centre will map out this territory, place it in the context of modern brain science and help you make it your own. He will illustrate the concepts of ‘paying attention’ and ‘being in the present’ through awareness techniques that can be done repeatedly throughout any day. CCBF405 $149

Find your balance with the Alexander TechniqueGlenn B. Swift
Glenn B. Swift has taught this technique for over twenty years, counting Hugh Jackman amongst his pupils. Any type of performance can be improved by learning simple changes, beginning with balance of the head and the function of breath. Actors, musicians, dancers and other ordinary people will benefit. Many writers find plotting difficult. A good plot is both the skeleton and tendons of a story. By understanding and experimenting with the nine-point arc of a typical plot, you will learn the devious art of plotting.

Whether you have a compact camera or the latest DSLR, you can achieve stunning images. Photographers take most of their pictures ‘on the move’ – travelling around town, overseas or in the outback.
