BONDI TO BRONTE COAST WALK
Bondi Baths (Icebergs)Built in the 1880s, the baths later became home to the Icebergs Club, whose members swim all winter.
Bondi Beach & ParkThe park was created in 1882, but ‘sea bathing’ remained illegal until 1902. Now Australia’s most famous beach.
Tamarama ParkOnce home to a theme park with a mini-railway along the clifftop, now a charming beachside park.
Bronte Park & BathsBronte is named after Admiral Lord Nelson, Duke of Bronte. The Baths were built in 1887 to cater to the new ‘sea bathing’ fad.
Surf lifesaving clubs The Lifesavers were established at Bondi, North Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama in the early 1900s. Together with Waverley Council’s professional lifeguards, surf lifesaving clubs continue to save many lives.
Whales and dolphinsWhales migrate along this coast in June-July and October-November. Pods of dolphins enter Bondi Bay.
Bush regeneration Areas of original native bush are found along the walk. Regeneration is carried out by volunteers. There is also remnant native vegetation in Bronte Gully at the back of Bronte Park.
Marine protected areasIt is illegal to collect invertebrates such as crabs, octopus or mussels in the Intertidal Protected Area. In the Aquatic Reserve neither invertebrates nor gropers may be caught.
Waverley CemeteryEstablished in 1877, this is the resting place of many famous Australians. Open to the public during the day. Please stick to the paths. Sorry, no dogs.
Bondi PavilionThis 1928 building now houses a theatre, art gallery, change rooms, lockers, cafés and the Marine Discovery Centre.

WAVERLEY CLIFF WALK
Hawkesbury sandstone cliffs up to 80m high can be found along the way, dating from the Triassic Period, 200 million years ago.
Aboriginal occupation Look for Aboriginal rock carvings of a shark by the path at Mackenzies Point.
The 3km Cliff Walk links parks in Dover Heights to Vaucluse, offering views of Sydney Harbour and Pacifi c Ocean cliffs.
This 4km walk takes in Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte, where beachside parks offer picnic shelters, barbecues, play areas and other facilities. South of Bronte, a new boardwalk follows the coastline past historic Waverley Cemetery, with platforms providing seating and breathtaking views.
DISABILITY ACCESS The promenades, parks and beaches at Bondi and Bronte are accessible. Stairs on the walk are as marked.
SUN PROTECTION Although parks offer shade and shelter, the walk itself does not. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen and drinking water.
DOGSDogs are allowed on the Coast Walk and beach promenades if they are on a lead. They are not allowed in parks, beaches or the cemetery. Bags are available at points along the walk – please clean up after your furry friend.

MAP LEGEND
The paths, boardwalks and stairways linking the
parks along the Cliff Walk were opened in 2004.
A radio telescope was installed by the CSIRO at Rodney Reserve in the 1950s. A commemorative replica and plaque mark the location.
Remnant vegetation along the walk includes ‘hanging swamps’ at south Diamond Bay Reserve and coastal heath at Eastern Reserve. Together with sandstone formations this provides habitat for a variety of geckos and skinks.
