What does a Field Service Engineer do? Field Service Engineers travel to power plants across the U.S. They are responsible for maintenance and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical machinery in the world including gas turbines, steam turbines and genera- tors. How do I become a Field Service Engineer? By applying for this position, you will attend a 12-month Engineer in Training, EIT, Program. This program prepares individuals to become Field Service Engineers. This training combines compre- hensive coursework and hands-on training at Siemens facilities in Orlando, Tampa and Pittsburgh. This program also provides on-the-job training as a member of one of our field service teams located around the globe. Your responsibilities may include: supervising technicians and mechanics disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling turbines and generators upgrading turbines and generators to increase power output and efficiency collaborating with our worldwide engineering sta performing specialized mechanical and electrical testing analyzing equipment operation You will work directly with our leading staof engineers and educators, developing skills that include: equipment design and maintenance job site safety project management leadership Siemens business systems Field Service Engineers are full-time employees with full benets and are expected to remain in the field for a minimum of ve years.
