ITNRO In 2007, the world of mobile telephony is highly disrupted by the arrival of the iPhone on the market, which has quickly established itself as a benchmark in terms of technology. Design, applications, touch screens, geolocation, speed, screen resolution, surf the Internet … In short, everything seems to exist, yet. The f uture (near or far) still bringing us great technological surprises. A brief overview of some upcoming smartphones that we will see in the few next years.

TRANSPARENT SMARTPHONES

Page 5: Upcoming Smartphones……Real Revolutions Or Simple Gadgets?

In the first quarter of this year the Taiwanese firm

Polytron Technologies unveils transparent smartphone.

Its patented technology , Polytron Technologies uses

what they call Switchable Glass Technology , that is a

conductive OLED screen using liquid crystal molecules to

display text and images. The screen is completely

transparent, but is still able to show clear, color pictures.

How ? because the screen becomes opaque when the

device is turned on and looks like a normal smartphone.

It still has some elements that are not transparent,

including a SD and SIM card, camera, the microphone,

and batteries, these elements will be hidden behind a

dark glass cover when the model goes into production.

This phone gives the advantage of being much lighter

than those currently on the market . But the important

questions that we have to ask; If the futuristic aesthetic

of these smartphones is attractive, what is the new that

can bring compared to current smartphones.

most of technology experts and professionals

expect that the problems of low battery will

go with no return due to French start-up

Wysips (What You See Is Photovoltaic

Surface) which has developed a technology to

capture the energy of light (natural or

artificial) to charge the battery. This

technology is a photovoltaic film that can be

seamlessly integrated onto the screen of a

smartphone — and replace the need for

chargers and wall sockets. In other words this

technology will Turn Mobile Phone Screens

Into Solar Panels.

FLEXIBLE SMARTPHONE

SCREENS

Flexible displays are the next step in the

world of innovation for smartphones, among

others, and several players are present in this

niche. Samsung working on the subject

seriously and intends to be the first (with

LG)to commercialize OLED flexible

smartphone screens. The prototype was

unveiled at CES and the result is astonishing:

The flexible and unbreakable screen is

provided with a resolution higher than 300

ppi.Encore at the prototype stage, this screen

would eventually be implemented on

smartphones or tablets.

Smartphones With

3D Screens

LG was the first to draw his smartphone screen

3D, the Optimus 3D. No need to bring 3D

glasses, just press a button to activate the

mode. The result is quite surprising just you

need to be well in front of the screen.LG also

offers the ability to capture photos and videos

in 3D, but the use of flash is not possible and

the quality, both for the photo and video will

reduce(3 megapixels instead of 5 megapixel 2D

and 720p instead of 1080p in 2D). LG may be

too focused on 3D, at the expense of design,

interface and navigation. Improvements are

expected for the next model (if there is a next

model). Stay tuned.

In the end? Smartphones of the future will have nothing to do

with those of today in the sight of rapid technological

advances. Phones of the future will be able to identify

and interact with everyday objects. Now I want your

opinion , what do you think of all these

innovations(upcoming smartphones)? Real

revolutions or simple gadgets?.
