    #6/12 Cougars to face #7/7 Bulldogs in nationally ranked match up Saturday at Bob Young Field

    SIOUX FALLS (SEPT. 15, 2015) -- In what will be one of the most watched games in NCAA DII, The #6/12 University of Sioux Falls Foot- ball Team (2-0, 2-0 NSIC) return home to host #7/7 Minnesota-Duluth (1-1, 1-1 NSIC) at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Bob Young Field.

    Cougars to have “Black Out” for Saturday’s game For the UMD game, on Saturday, USF is sponsoring a “Black Out” in which the team will be outitted in all-black uniforms, including the helmet as part of the promotion. USF encourages fans and support- ers to wear black USF gear when they come to the game on Saturday night.

    How things stand for USF

    The Cougars have won ive straight games dating to a year ago, includ- ing two in a row in the 2015 season. USF defeated U-Mary, 55-7, in the home opener on Sept. 5 at Bob Young Field. Last week, they ventured to Crookston, Minn., to pick up its initial road win of the season, a 45- 21 decision over Minnesota-Crookston. USF held UMC scoreless in the second half.

    In the win last week, the Cougars, which are ranked #1 in the NSIC in to- tal yards with 1,081 yards and in points at 50.0 per game, rolled up 582 yards. The breakdown of yardage indicated balance as USF had 280 yards rushing, led by Max Mickey’s career best 149 yards and TD, and 282 yards passing. Junior Harlon Hill candidate and quarterback Luke Papilion was 17-of-34 for 244 yards and a career-best ive TDs. Papilion now ranks second nationally with eight TD throws in two games.

    In this week’s national polls, USF moved up from #15 to #12 in the AFCA rankings while they jumped from #9 to a program-best #6 in the D2Football.com poll. In addition USF is #7 in David Boyce’s DII power rankings at NCAA.com.

    Meanwhile, Minnesota-Duluth, which won the NSIC North a year ago, bounced back from a 20-17 loss to #1 Minnesota State on the road, to roll past Wayne State, 48-7. In the win, UMD had 533 yards in to- tal ofense as they built a 32-0 halftime lead. Quarterback Drew Bauer completed 17-of-21 passes for 180 yards and three TDs. Logan Lauter (13-149-0) and Jamiah Newell (7-135-2 TDs) led a rushing attack that

    Quick Glance at USF

    churned out 241 yards on 20 carries. UMD ranks fourth in the lead in scoring with 32.5 points per game and second in scoring defense at 13.5 points per game. They are second in the NSIC in rushing ofense at 237.5 yards per game while ranking eighth overall in total ofense at 395.0 yards per game. So far, Lauters is third in the NSIC with 104.5 yards rushing per game while Bauer is ninth with 192.5 yards in total ofense per game. Defensively, Beau Bates lead UMD with 15 tackles while Darion Fletcher had 14 stops, an interception, fumble recovery and six pass breakups.

    USF Head Coach Jed Stugart to coach 60th game USF head coach Jed Stugart will coach his 60th game as USF on Saturday. He is 46-13 all-time, with his win total ranking third all-time at USF.
