23rd April Children’s Festival
In Turkey, people celebrate this day as a
festival. The children gather from all over the
world under the motto of ”Love, friendship
and peace”.
On 23rd April 1920, Atatürk opened The Turkish
Grand National Assembly and he dedicated
23rd April to chidren. He thought the
educated children and youth make great
contributions to Turkey’s future.
Every year in Turkey, children celebrate
this day as a national holiday. They perform
different activities in their schools. Some
children visit the Parliament.

Read the text about Santa Tecla and answer the questions:
SANTA TECLA FESTIVAL
Tarragona celebrates “Santa Tecla Festival”. This festival is a smaller version of the Fieasta Mayor. The events take place at the end of September. The fireworks take place on the 22nd of September each year. Each afternoon and evening, mythical Catalan characters dance their way through the town. There are traditional folkloric processions, for example Bull, Dragon, Devil, and Giant.
