Wes Anderson’s recurring themes and visual styles

Wes Anderson is an auteur because of the different elements he likes to be unique about, they are visual style, outsiders, absurd and keeping it constant. Wes Anderson uses the whole frame in his films, he says “look at the edges as much as the middle”, from this he means that he puts as much detail into the background as in the main part of the frame, he uses sharp lines and vibrant colours to appeal to the audience.

In this clip you can identify Wes Anderson’s style, the vibrant colour used with very straight but dynamic camera shots. Its very fats paced editing which is a Wes Anderson style. As well as the film being a comedy which is normally the genre Wes Anderson takes.

Wes Anderson’s recurring themes and visual styles

Wes Anderson usually includes death in his film, but the person who dies isn’t shown, he uses death as a way of creating a character. The death is meant to make the character act or think a certain way which is part of the story.

In The Darjeeling Limited (2007), the three brother travel across the whole of India to bond with each other, they did this after the death of their father. This shows that because of a death the characters acted a certain way which is the story of the film
