Mathura & Varndavan: In Mathura: the birth place of Lord Krishana, Holi has a special significance. It is believed that this fest was initiated by Lord Krishana, and hence the entire city turn colorful even half a month before the festival day. ‘Rashleela’ or ‘Krishna-leela’ is played in many of temples of the deity and people throw bucket full of flowers & dry colors on each other. Similarly, Holi is celebrated in a very traditional way in Vrindavan, the place where Lord Krishna grew up.

Barsane: ‘Barsane’ is a small village near to Mathura, the very place that Radha, krishna’s courtesan, belongs to. Holi here is celebrated in very unique way, which has become a tourist attraction now. Famous as ‘lathmar holi’, the celebration involves women with bamboo sticks rushing towards men who are ready with colored water to pour on them.
