SSA Sharing Program Execution

• The USSTRATCOM SSA Sharing Program promotes the responsible use of space, advances spaceflight safety, and enhances SSA through the exchange of SSA information with the global space community

• Diverse customer base• What we can do:

– Provide high accuracy dataservices and support at no cost

– Facilitate communication & cooperation

• What we can’t do:– Recommend courses of action– Tell an operator what to do

Increased Tasking Criteria

• If the primary or secondary object identified in a conjunction meet any of the following criteria, tasking to the sensor network will be increased:– Not tracked within 72 hours, or– Less than 20 obs in current DC, or– 2 or less sensors contributing to current DC, or– At least 1 component of covariance over 100,000 m2

How to Name Ephemeris Files

<DataType>_<SCC#>_<CommonName>_<DDDHHMM>_<Operational/Special>_<Metadata>_<Classification>.txt

MEME(case sensitive)

Satellite Catalog #On-orbit: 5-digit SATCAT IDPre-cataloging: UCN, UCD

Common Name (no underscores):e.g. ISS or ISS(ZARYA)

Starting DTG-UTC:• Day of Year followed by time in hours/minutes• DDDHHMM (HHMM = start time of ephemeris)

OPERATIONAL:An “Operational” file represents where the satellite is planned to go and may or may not include maneuvers

• These files typically incorporate normal station-keeps, or represent a freefall orbit

• If maneuvers are included, the JSpOC assumes these will definitely occur. Otherwise, the files should be submitted as Special.

• “Operational” may be abbreviated as “OPER”, “OPS”, or “OP”• Only one operational file per satellite may be submitted at a

time – files with the same SCC# will replace each other

Metadata: Optional free text field – any value is acceptable, but most often used for maneuver information:

• nomnvr, or• mnvr (or mnvr01, mvr02, or burn01, burn02, etc) • Public/Private• HighInterest

SPECIAL:A “Special” file represents where the satellite is planned to go if a special maneuver is executed

• A “Special” file is used for planning purposes only, unless the maneuver becomes operational, in which case it must be resubmitted as “Operational”

• All “Special” files will be treated as high-interest• “Special” may be abbreviated “SPEC” or “SP”• Multiple special files may be submitted for the same satellite at

the same time

Only unclassified will be accepted• Must spell out “unclassified“• Not case sensitive

File extension must be .txt

How to Submit/Manage Ephemeris

Submit:• Preferred: Space-Track.org Files Panel• Alternate: Email to [email protected]• Manual GUIs or API uploads• 5 accepted formats: NASA, UTC, Generic On-Orbit, Modified

ITC, OEMManage:• Ephemeris currently autodeletes after 24 hours• Operator can only manually delete files…but it’s a huge help!• In the works…API deleteRecommendation: If you upload files and delete them and don’t

need a screening, please tell the CA Crew!

14UNCLASSIFIED

UNCLASSIFIED

How to Request Special Screenings

• Special Screening Requests: – 1 v 1, catalog– 1 v all, catalog– High-interest ephemeris, operational and special

• Communicate with CA Crew– Email or phone…or both!– Explain rationale – why high-interest: COLA? Maneuver? Deorbit? – Provide name of ephemeris file – Reference the ODR number, if applicable– State deadline that you need results

CA CREW CONTACT INFORMATION:[email protected]

+1-805-605-3533

15UNCLASSIFIED

UNCLASSIFIED

How to Submit Maneuver Notifications

• Preferred: Through Space-Track.org using OPM• Alternate: Email• Very flexible format, but we greatly appreciate:

– Object, epoch and duration– Reason – especially if COLA! – Conjunction/TCA that is causing

COLA…or tell us that your decision is not based on a JSpOC prediction

• Designate as Public or Private• This is a work in progress – we

need your feedback!

Orbital Data Request

• When is an ODR needed?– Early Orbit CA– Advanced CA– Anomaly Support– High-interest extended screening support: relocation, disposal, deorbit– Data redistribution (example: third party redistribution of your CDMs)– SP Ephemeris product

• Download the ODR form from Space-Track.org SSA Sharing page– Other forms may be needed: Form-22, R-15– https://www.space-track.org/documentation#/odr-examples_forms
