WELDING SERVICES

ULMA Lazkao Forging provides an extensive range of expert and specialist welding services. We use low-dilution processes in order to achieve the best possible results in terms of erosion and rust prevention. Our welding operation boasts some of the most respected approvals and stamps: ASME U, U2 and NPT Nuclear, among others. We have more than 70 approved butt-weld and weld overlay processes. Customer specifi cations are ensured by qualifi ed inspectors who carry out non-destructive testing as per the Inspection and Test Plan. Our range of services includes:Butt Welding, Hardfacing, Weld Overlaying and Piping Spool Fabrication (including Overlay).

CARBON STEEL

Carbon steel is an alloy of carbon and steel, available in several grades according to the amount of carbon in the mix, from low to very high. Forgings made from carbon steel are known for their strength, ductility, hardness, and impact resistance.

ALLOY STEELS

Alloy steels containing one or more of a long list of alloying elements can be used — chromium, molybdenum, manganese and many more — with and without heat treatment, to produce forgings with a wide range of performance-enhancing properties. Consult us regarding your specifi c needs.

STAINLESS STEELS

The addition of chromium and other alloying elements produces the special properties of the steels in the stainless steel range, including excellent resistance to corrosion and impacts, and high strength, among other virtues. Many of these forgings can be further hardened through heat treatment.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE ALLOYS

High-performance or “superalloys” are used in the most demanding applications, where their excellent creep resistance at high temperatures, good mechanical strength and surface stability, and resistance to the processes of corrosion and oxidation are vital. A wide range of forgings can be produced depending on your specifi c performance needs.

ULMA Lazkao Forging is the partner you need for the highest quality in forged products. Our products are built to last, with excellent adherence to the most exacting specifi cations, and all at competitive prices.

ULMA Lazkao Forging conducts both destructive and non-destructive tests as required.

A destructive test may be carried out on an extra forging piece, a test coupon, or the projecting end of a piece that is broken off the fi nal forging. A piece can then be tested until the point of failure for such parameters as tensile strength, stress rupture, impact strength, etc. We have four kinds of Level II-III non-destructive testing (NDT) at ULMA Lazkao Forging: ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and x-ray. These tests do not harm the forgings and can be carried out on fi nal pieces.

FORGING MATERIALS OVERVIEW FORGING CAPABILITIES OVERVIEW

ULMA Lazkao Forging manufactures products from the following materials, among others:

NICKEL ALLOYS

Inconel® and Hastelloy® are but two common examples of the wide variety of alloys containing nickel. The increased ductility that nickel brings to alloys makes it ideal for many applications. We can offer you forgings made of an extensive range of nickel alloys.

MONEL® ALLOYS

Monel® is the trademark name applied to a series of nickel and copper alloys. These alloys are extremely resistant to corrosion and acids, and are therefore highly prized in marine applications and environments where there will be exposure to harsh acids and corrosive media.

COPPER

The reddish-orange tone of this naturally malleable metal is familiar to everyone, having been in use for thousands of years. It is prized in alloys for adding to impact resistance, strength and hardness.

ALUMINUM

Aluminum is widely used in many industries, and readily alloys with other metals. Its corrosion resistance is excellent, and in alloys it can greatly improve mechanical properties.

TITANIUM

Extremely strong, fatigue- and corrosion-resistant, low-weight and low-density pieces can be manufactured with titanium and its alloys. When its high strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to acids, chemicals, salt water and corrosion in general are needed, titanium is the choice.

ULMA Lazkao Forging makes the quality of its forged products its number one concern. We produce our forgings from a wide variety of materials to suit the varying needs of customers in many industries. Our customers know they can rely on ULMA Lazkao Forging when they need forgings and other pieces made from superior materials and at competitive prices.

WHY CHOOSE FORGING?

The forging process is capable of producing a much stronger piece than can be manufactured simply through the processes of casting, machining or welding. Forging rearranges the internal grain of the metal, forcing it to align with the shape of the piece, eliminating pockets of low density and gas infi ltration, and producing a highly resilient and durable fi nished piece.

ULMA Lazkao Forging is a closed-die forging shop offering products of exceptional quality. Closed-die or impression-die forging, as it is also often called, offers all the advantages of open-die forging, while allowing you to control the fi nal three-dimensional shape of the piece as no other process can. ULMA Lazkao Forging offers closed-die forgings that range from 1 to 750 kilos.

WIDE EXPERIENCE

ULMA Lazkao Forging is a leading player in many different markets. Our cutting-edge technology and years of experience have led us into the following industries:

Specifi cations and Standards:

ULMA Lazkao Forging works to all the most widely recognized standards and specifi cations, ASTM, ASME, DIN, EN, ISO, etc., and welcomes your own proprietary specifi cations as well.

Our systems, processes and operations are certifi ed to ISO 9001 standards, as awarded by LLOYD’S REGISTER QUALITY ASSURANCE. They are reviewed continuously and audited by internal quality audits and third-party inspection agencies.

ULMA Lazkao Forging provides original mill certifi cation of each product’s chemistry and compliance with the exact requirements of the customer. In addition, we are able to provide certifi cation of the chemical and mechanical properties of the forging, as well as the complete results of any tests that our customers may require.
