Designer Peter opsvik created the tripp trapp® chair back in 1972 after watching

his own young son struggle to sit comfortably and reach the table. there were high

chairs for babies and full-sized chairs for adults, but nothing that could suit both –

and all sizes in-between. hence Peter’s revolutionary design.

Depth adjustable seat and footplateWhen adjusted correctly, this provides your child with a sturdy back support. there’s also no pressure on the back of the knees, aiding good blood circulation and avoiding discomfort and restlessness.

With elbows at the right height to the table, your child will be able to develop fine motor skills, mastering tasks like holding cutlery, eating, playing and writing, without straining their body.

Footplateadults naturally shift their body weight every one to two minutes using their feet against the floor, and it should be no different for children. We move the floor up to the child’s feet to give them the opportunity to shift position by using their feet.
