UJANG AND HIS DREAMS

Once upon a time, there lived a small family in a small house. Udin and his sister Ani, lived with their

mother. They were so poor, so they didnt have money to buy a light in their house.

Udin studied in class VI. His neighbours usually called him Ujang. Ujang was left at home to take care

of his little sister. Ujang sat in the chair with his sister on his lap. He sang to her all the song he knew.

Ujang remembered the next day he had a homework. He had to learn by heart all the towns in West

Java. So, he looked into his geography book that lay open before him. In the evening, his mother came

back home from work. She took Ani in her arms. Then, Ujang ran to the window. He strained his eyes to

go through the lesson as quickly as possible, because it was getting darker and darker. Suddenly, Ujangs

mother saw Ma Icih (an old woman), dragging herself while carrying a pail of water in her hands. Ujangs

mother said to him,Come here Ujang. Be a good boy and help Ma Icih. Help her to bring the pail of

water.

So, Ujang ran out of his house. He helped Ma Icih took the pail of water and carried into Ma Icihs house.

When he came back into the room, it was quite dark. He wanted to learn his geography lesson, but he

couldnt. Because there was not light in the room. So, he put the geography book under his pillow and

feel fast as slept.

Ujang saw Ma Icih (an old woman) whom he helped, in the street in his dream. Ma Icih looking at him

with sympathy and said to him, I know you havent learn your geography lesson. Dont worry, the

Almighty God shall take care of you.

Saying so, Ma Icih disappeared from Ujangs dream. Then Ujang saw a farmer. He said to him, My Dear

Ujang! Here Subang, a town in West Java. Subang has mountain and rice fields. It also has hot water

spring. Lovely pineapple grew on the outskirt. Thats why Subang famous with dodol.

Then, Ujang heard a bleating goat and he approached toward that sound. The goat said, Mbee.Iam

goat from Garut. Garut has many special food like dodol Garut and Garuts orange. Garut also has

Mount Papandayan and Lake Bagendit for picnic. Mbee

Then, Ujang smell the grilled meat. He saw a man was cooking satay. The man said, Hello Ujang, we are

in Purwakarta. A town in West Java. This is rising town, full of life. The peoples in this town love culture.

So there is many puppet statue and gate here. Purwakarta has a dam, names Dam Jatiluhur. It used as

hydropower.

Suddenly, the black clouds appeared with flash of light. And.Duarrr.., there was a thunders. Ohno, its going to rain, said Ujang. Suddenly there was a woman who wear umbrella. Ujang said, Mam,

may I stay under your umbrella?. Of course, come on, said the woman. Ujang asked, Mam, where

are we now?. The woman answered,We are in Bogor. People say that Bogor is rainy town because the

rain always falls in this town. Bogor has Botanical Garden and Palace. You can see deers in Bogor Palace

and also you can see Raflesias flower in Bogor Botanical Garden. This flowers has bed smell.

Suddenly the sky was blue, and the sun shined brightly. The woman was disappeard. Then Ujang saw his

little sister Ani. She grew into a beautiful girl. She had curly hair. Her eyes were brown. She said,My

dear brother! We are in West Java. And here are the names of the town located in West Java. She gave

Ujang a paper. The paper told the names of the town in West Java. Ujang remembered all the names

quickly.

The next day, the sun rise. It was the end of Ujangs dream. He sat up in his bed and pondered over what

he experienced the previous night. But he couldnt remember his dreams.

The he sprang out of bed quickly. He opened his geography book. He knew all the names of the town

correctly. He had to learnt the lesson well. Suddenly, Ma Icih appeared at the door of Ujangs room. She

said to him,My dear child. God has helped you remember the names of the towns. He always help

those who help other. I pray to Him, so all your wishes may get fulfil.
