In her wildest dreams a lady in her eightieswould never have thought that a cry forhelp and hurried prayer would be an-
swered nearly instantly and in such a con-crete way!
The elderly Susan Mentor from JonesStreet in Jubilee Park, Uitenhage, was doingher washing and whilst hanging it on the linein her backyard, the line snapped. She losther momentum and fell forward.
“Instinctively I tried to protect my face andglasses and fell with the side of my head hit-ting the ground like a bag of potatoes,” saidSusan Mentor, who has been living in JonesStreet for most of her life.
“I slowly turned on my back. Then movedmy ligaments one by one, figuring out wheth-er something was broken. For some reason Icould not get up. Then I said a hurried prayerthat the Lord must please send someone to myrescue.”
Susan’s daughter René was inside thehouse and unaware of her mother’s ordeal.
According to Susan the next moment sheheard a loud noise and a helicopter startedcircling above her property. It slowly de-scended and came so close that she could seethe two men in the cockpit.
“I thought ... wow Lord ... this is an extra-ordinary way of sending angels!”
The helicopter kept on circling above
Susan’s house and various neighbours cameout as well as René, who then saw her motherlying on the ground next to the washing line.She hurried to her mother and assisted herin getting on to her feet again.
“I was so grateful and showed the menthumbs-up to say thank you! They saw it andthen flew away. This to me was proof againin the miraculous ways the Lord looks afterus!”

In celebration of life, all breast cancer survi-vors are invited by the Reach for RecoveryBreast Cancer Support Group from Uitenha-ge to a special Christmas Lunch hosted atBella’s coffee shop on Saturday, December6th.
Reach for Recovery is a specialised unit as-sisting patients with or recovering frombreast cancer.
“Unfortunately, owing to limited resourc-es and funding we cannot reach all the pa-tients. Therefore we have decided to host thelunch as part of our fundraising initiatives,”said Estelle Botha, Chairperson of Reach forRecovery Uitenhage.
“We would also like to thank everyone whosupported Reach for Recovery Breast CancerSupport Group with donations as well asthose who contributed to the Bra Drivewhich was held recently at Willow Dam Gar-den Centre.”
The Bra Drive was initiated by JackySharp and Alida Davis.
“I know how important it is to make a wom-an feel good again after surgery and what joyand smiles it brings to those who are recipi-ents of these beautiful bras. These bras willbe fitted with a pocket to be able to fit siliconprosthesis into it. Therefore we want to espe-cially thank them for all the time they spenton this project.
“We greatly appreciate the public’s sup-port. May you remember you have made adifference in the lives of another woman.May your lives be enriched by God’s wonder-ful love,” said Botha.

The Chit Chat roast took off likewildfire andon average they serve seventy meals on busydays. The latest addition to the menu will bethe ribs roasted in the secret Torlago sauce, forwhichWayne’s mother Gail, was well-known inthe days they owned the original Guido’s oppo-site Willow Dam.Freshness of plattersChit Chat serves platters, but although they
do not have set menus on their platters, Waynelistens to what his customers want and thenprepares accordingly.

The Uitenhage and Despatch countrysidewill be lit up on this Friday evening withrally car spot lights, service andofficial vehi-cles taking part in the Heinesport Aloe Rallyfinal round of the Algoa Rally Club 50kChallenge.
Rally vehicleswill start fromRangersOut-doors from 17:30 with documentation. Thefirst stage is at Jachtvlakte where about 22rally cars will take to the gravel from 20:30then follow on to Skiet Innibos and Mother-well stages off the Daniel Pienaar/Mother-well road.The first four stages will be run at night
finishing after midnight and resume on Sat-urday, repeating the previous stages and isexpected to finish at 13:30 at Rangers Out-doors. After racing on 90 kilometres of spe-cial gravel stages driver and navigator com-patibility is put to the ultimate test on une-ven gravel roads, particularly at night,where the drivers take instructions from thenavigators and drive accordingly, to main-tain thebalance of speed, consistencyandve-hicle control.The winner of the championship that will
be crowned at the end of the rally, is awardedR50 000 worth of prizes with maximum over-all points scored after 6 events in their re-spective classes of S1-1400, S2-1600 and S3-2000.Spectators are welcome to follow the rally
