Series I Office Files, A-Z, 1944-1966

Boxes 1-19

The files of Mildred Jeffrey and the UAW Community Relations Department are organized alphabetically, A-Z. They contain clippings, correspondence, minutes, notes, publications, publicity, and broadcast transcripts of the UAW Radio Department, of which Mildred Jeffrey was a staff member, and of the UAW Community Relations Department. Clippings, correspondence and minutes also exist for community organizations which worked along with the UAW in dealing with community interests and problems. A substantial portion of the files concern FM radio stations owned and operated by the UAW in Detroit and Cleveland until the early 1950's when costs and the slow growth in the ownership of FM band radios led the UAW to divest itself of its radio interests. Most material dates from 1948 to 1952, but a sizeable amount of material continues into the early 1960's.
