PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

Definition

• Portrait photography is a way of portraying somebody’s mood, personality and expression of the subject in focus (The person). It mainly focuses on the face of the subject more than anything.

What’s changed?

• For starters, the camera technology has evolved over the last 100 years. This means that the quality of the photographs has changed significantly. Also the style of the photos has changed, for example, a photo from the Victorian period would be more formal, whereas a photograph from today would be more casual and less formal.

Although the images are taken from a certain distance, the clarity of the photographs are as if you were standing close to the landscape.

What’s changed?

• Camera technology is a key factor in the change to landscape photography over the years. Editing software has changed too, so photos can easily be manipulated and changed. Clarity within images has also changed over the last 100 years, photos are crisp instead of grainy.
