Research 1 Specific Questions

• How many kilometers do you travel per month?

• How many times a year, do you travel at least 150km a day, for 7 days in a row?

• What type of transportation do you most often use?

Research 2 Specific Questions

• Have you ever taken physical preparation classes for your instrumental practice?

• Do you do a sport? What kind?

• At what frequency do you practice sports?

Page 7: Two epidemiological studies, 2012

Research 1 & 2 Seriousness Scale

• During the last 12 months, have you had any disorders?

• Because of these disorders, have you had to diminish your instrumental practice?

• For how long have your disorders constrained you from playing your instrument?

Disorders during the last 12 months NS

Musicians practicing golf/ racket sports, swimming and

Musicians practicing weight lifting and ball games

because of these disorders

Musicians who participate in physical preparation classes

experience less suspension of musical practice because of pain. But if they stop playing, they stop

Research 1 & 2 Resume

• An increase in travel caused a musician to stop practicing his instrument long periods of time because of pain.

• Musicians who followed a physical preparation course were less likely to report forced suspensions due to pain.

• Pain experienced by musicians in the last 12 months depends on the type of sport they practice.InfluenceOnMusiciansPain.wordpress.com
