Recording with Adobe Audition One Vista computers

• You can record any video and audio using Adobe Audition program. The recording will be audio only.

• Setup • 1- Go to the site that contains the program that you

wish to record and prepare your Audio or Video file. (BBC Arabic, CNN Arabic, Aljazeera..etc)

• 2- Open Adobe Audition program *(from start menu, programs, adobe audition) or from the icon on your desktop.

Open Adobe Audition Program Open audio or Video you wish to record *Please note: Adobe Audition will only record the Audio sound and will not include the “image”.

3- Right click volume control icon on the bottom right corner of the taskbar Right click on Volume Control and select “recording devices” from the menu 4- Select “recording devices”

5- From the recording devices window, select stereo mix (if it is not selected) and click on set as default button and then click ok. Select “stereo mix” and click “set default” button, then click ok.

6- Go back to Adobe Audition and click on Edit menu and then select “Audio Hardware Setup” Click on Edit and then select Audio Hardware Setup option.

7- From the hardware setup menu select “Control Panel” Select Control Panel

8- From the Control Panel, check the small button next to stereo mix and uncheck the small button next to microphone (Make sure to click on the “Move up” button” to move stereo mix to the beginning) Click button next to stereo mix and uncheck microphone. Click ok

9- Select stereo mix and click on the “move up” button until stereo mix is the first option under device name. Then click OK. Click OK Click move up button to make Stereo Mix first option Select Stereo Mix and make sure it is the first option under device name.

10- From the Edit View Ports menu, insure that “Stereo Mix” is selected as the default input. Make sure that Stereo Mix is selected as Default Input Click Apply, then OK 11- Click apply, and ok. Congratulations, you are now ready to record!

Recording 1- Click on the Red Recording Button in Adobe Audition. If you receive an error message, just click ok. The recording will start. Red Recording button Click Ok to the error message. You will be able to see the sound waves, confirming the audio recording. 2- Once you are done recording, click on the recording button again to stop*. Note: you also have the regular control buttons (i.e. stop, pause, continue, record)

Saving Recorded Audio File To save the recorded Audio file, follow these steps; 1- Go to file, save as, and in the browse menu, type a name and select a location to save the audio file. Click on file, save as. *Save as type Type a name for your file, and then select a location, and click save. *Note: you can select the type of audio file you wish to have by clicking on “save as type”. 2- To play your audio file, go to the location where the file is saved and double click on it.
