D.C. Lynch Carnival opens MONDAY, AUGUST 14 at 6:00 p.m. NO ADVANCE TICKETS OR WRISTBANDS WILL BE SOLD. Books of 20 tickets for $10, which include a chance to win a bicycle with one given away daily, are sold at the ticket window outside the fair office. On Tuesday evening (4-9 p.m.), Wednesday afternoon (1-6 p.m.), and Thursday afternoon (1-6 p.m.), wristbands will be sold for $15 from the ticket booth at the intersection north of the fair office for use during these specified times only.

ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMALS are allowed on the grounds EXCEPT for those show and are those that align with the ADA's service animal classification for animals specifically trained to do work or perform tasks for people with

disabilities. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA and are therefore not allowed on grounds during the Fair.

There will be no advance ticket sales for the “pit”. Pit passes will be $20 and the fee will be collected at the gate.

TURNER COUNTY FAIR RULES & REGULATIONS

Absolutely no animals allowed on the grounds EXCEPT service animals and those intended for show. See Page

5 for service animal requirements. No passenger cars are permitted to park in the exhibit

area. Cars must park in the designated fair parking lots to the south or northeast of the main grounds area. Fast driving will not be permitted within the grounds. The fair board may prohibit cars in any section of the grounds, if, in the board’s opinion, the cars become too dangerous to people or property.

Open Class competition is open to everyone. Entry blanks are available at the fair office.

All premium checks need to be cashed within 6 months of the fair, or they will be considered void. All cash premiums must be picked up within 6 months, or the money goes back into the fair account.

ALL EXHIBITS MUST REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL

9 P.M. THURSDAY, AUGUST 17th Open Class premiums may be picked up at the

superintendent’s office in the Open Class building on Wednesday, August 16 or Thursday, August 17 from 3-9 p.m.

The Open Class building will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 14 for judging of displays and will remain closed until the judging is complete.

Premium awards and ribbon placings will be made by an expert judge whose decision will be final. Exhibitors shall have the right to ask questions relative to the placing of ribbons, but criticism of exhibits will be limited to the judge. Previous winners of an exhibit making a false entry or failing to comply with these regulations shall forfeit the prize money. The fair will take every precaution for protection of exhibits but will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur. If you have something of sentimental value to you, you may want to keep it at home rather than exhibit it.

The fair board will guard against extortion in any form practiced on the patrons of the fair. Any violation will cause forfeiture of the contract money paid and expulsion from the grounds as the board may direct.

Being a family-orientated fair, we reserve the right to approve or disapprove certain displays and booths as a Fair Board.

No weapons of any kind are allowed on the Turner County Fairgrounds, except by licensed law enforcement personnel.

Lunch stands and other vendor booths must be substantial in structure and neat in appearance with prices displayed in a prominent place.

6. Market beef and breeding heifer entry fees are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the show. Entry fee for Turner County 4-H market beef and breeding heifers is $5. Feeder calf entry is $5.

POULTRY - OPEN CLASS SUPERINTENDENT: Dan Flyger - (605) 925-4482 Open Class Poultry must be entered by 9 a.m. on Monday,

August 14. The building will be open from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, and 8-9 a.m. on Monday, August 14 for check-in. Poultry judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 14 following the 4-H poultry. All poultry exhibits must be in good health. Advanced registration is required to ensure reservation of a cage. Exhibitors still wishing to participate on the day of the show will be received on a first come, first served basis by availability of cages. All poultry will be leg banded for identification purposes. Only one entry per lot number unless additional entries are of a different breed. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning the cages daily. Preregistration may either be sent to the fair office or entered by notification of the superintendent. No poultry that is exhibited in the 4-H show regardless of class will be permitted to show in open class.

All open class poultry must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection before entering the fairgrounds. They must be from a pullorum typhoid clean source or the equivalent or be tested and found free of pullorum typhoid within 90 days prior to exhibition. Test information or source status must be listed on the CVI.

3. Jar should be displayed with ring attached. A two-piece lid is required.

in standard jelly jars with lids. NO PARAFFIN OR WAX SEALED EXHIBITS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

2. Only the number of blooms listed for the class may be exhibited. Stems and foliage count as well as the blooms. No foliage below the water line. When exhibiting two or more blooms, all should be the same size.

Lot 1359 Horticulture – Pickle Race – Everything you need to make dill pickles. Must include 6 uniform cucumbers, 2 sprigs of dill, 1 garlic bulb, 1 onion put in a basket.

Lot 1360 Food Challenge: Cookie Recipe Challenge – Soft Snickerdoodle Cookies – Exhibit 3 1 cup butter 1 ½ cups sugar 2 large eggs 2 ¾ cup flour 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons sugar

3 teaspoons cinnamon Directions: Preheat oven to 350o F. Mix butter, 1 ½ cups sugar and eggs thoroughly in large bowl. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl. Blend dry ingredients into butter mixture. Chill dough, and chill an ungreased cookie sheet for about 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator. Meanwhile, mix 3 tablespoons sugar and 3 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl. Scoop 1 inch balls of dough into the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Coat by gently rolling balls of dough in the sugar mixture. Place on chilled ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10

minutes. Remove from pan immediately.
