Tunø Airfield

Thank you for purchasing Tunø Airfield!

Tunø Airfield is a realistic scenery of the island of Tunø and its small airstrip. Tunø is a small idyllic and

beautiful island in the Kattegat Sea situated between the larger island of Samsø and the east coast of

Jutland, about 25 kilometers southeast of Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city.

The island of Tunø covers an area of 3.52 km ² and has 118 inhabitants. Tunø has its own ferry,

“Tunøfærgen”. The ferry sails between Tunø Harbour and Hou on the east coast of Jutland. Sailing time

between Tunø and Hou is about 1 hour.

The island of Tunø is a protected area of importance for wildlife, flora and fauna. No cars are allowed on

Tunø, so you either have to walk, cycle or grab a "Traxa", a “Tractor taxi”, to get around.

The airfield on Tunø is a private airfield. To land, a special permit from the owner is required. Landing and

take off at Tunø Airfield requires great care from the pilot. The landingstrip (07/25) is only 309 meters and

slopes toward the beach. The landingstrip is only usable from the gravel road at the eastern end to the row

of trees in the western end.

Tunø has only one village, Tunø by.

Here you can visit the church, which

dates back to the 14th century. The

tower functions as both a church

tower and a lighthouse.

On the island, you will find rich and

varied bird life, and in the sea around

the island you can see both seals and

porpoises.

Tunø Airfield is designed to be used

on a standard FSX:SE installation

under DirectX 9. The scenery is not

compatible with “DirectX 10 preview”

FSX:SE Display settings

Some of the tree models and vegetation textures (grass and flower textures) that are used in this scenery

does not change with the seasons in FSX:SE, but stays fixed regardless of the season. Four sets of tree

manually switch between spring, summer, fall and winter textures by using the configuration tool Scenery

Manager which is included in the scenery. Important: Do not use Scenery Manager while FSX:SE is running!

The tool is located in the folder named “Scenery Manager”. This folder is by default located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\DLC\471898\Vidan Design\Danish Airfields X -

Tuno\Scenery Manager.

How to use the Scenery Manager tool:

1. Close FSX:SE

2. Change season with the Scenery Manager

3. Close Scenery Manager

4. Restart FSX:SE

(If the textures does not change, please go to the "Scenery Library" and move Sindal below any other Vidan

Design sceneries you might have installed). Important: Do not use Scenery Manager while FSX:SE is

running!
