Real education barely demands any-thing but your dedicated hours andceaseless efforts. Being a true be-liever of this fact, Adamas Inter-

national School has already launched a Dig-ital Learning Programme to empower thestudents and make them evolve as learners. We are using every single opportunity to bet-ter ourselves by substantially designing thelessons on Google Classroom. The method-ology aims at a perfect amalgamation of ef-fective educational videos, hands-on assign-

ments with text, video lectures and spurts ofeffective discussion in collaboration. At pres-ent a mouse click has become mightier thana pen and so regular assessments also can-not take a back seat.

This newly-devised system has alsobridged the gap between the guardians andthe school through regular parent-teachermeetings; the active involvement of the teach-ers and the parents is perfectly correlatedwith the academic pursuit and performanceof the students. Hence, by incorporating allpossible emerging technologies, we try to en-sure computational thinking and digital re-sponsibility in our children. We are sure thatthe traditional learning pattern will meta-morphose into a digitally responsible stu-dent-led learning pattern.

Sangeeta Basu, Assistant Teacher, English,

Adamas International School

The lockdown that followed the outbreak ofthe pandemic ha severely affected the livesof the students. Adapting to online classes

and staying away from their favourite football andbasketball ground has indeed been trying and test-ing for them. Yet, it was these trials and tests fromwhich emerged students who realised theirstrength, found their voice and stood up on the on-line platform provided by the school, to campaignfor the Student Council Elections for the session2020-21.

It began with filling e-nomination forms for theposts of head boy, head girl, deputy head boy, deputyhead girl, captains of the four houses - Grishma, Var-sha, Vasant and Shishir and the sports captain. It was

followed by campaigning videos prepared by the can-didates, who then finally met for a virtual face-off.

In the virtual face-off all the candidates, dressedin proper school uniform came together in a videoconference on the Microsoft Teams app and pre-sented their agenda in front of the principal, head-mistresses, coordinators and the sports in-chargeof the school. The speech by the candidates wasfollowed by questions put forward by the schoolheads, which all the candidates answered with con-viction and confidence. The face-off showed a sideof the students never seen before, with their in-sights about the importance of a leader in suchcritical times and the need to be together in timesof crisis. Some even came up with commendable

ideas to deal with such situation. Their speecheswere discerning.

The face-off and campaigning videos of thecandidates were then shared with the teachers andall the students to ensure that they choose wisely.

The process ended with the most important partof the elections: casting of votes. The IT departmentof the school designed an online portal for this pur-pose. The link was shared with teachers as well asthe students and everyone could cast their votes with-out any trouble. The entire process was smooth andeffective. While the results of the elections are await-ed, there’s no denying the fact that neither the schoolnor the students will ever give up on their duties andwill always do what is right!

DESIGNING NEW HORIZONS

Adamas International School has al-ways been unique and a step aheadof its time. Leaving all difficultiesand hardships behind, online class-

es were initiated from April.Though there is a stark difference be-

tween classroom teaching and online teach-ing, teachers have been able to master thisnew platform with ease. Classes conductedon Zoom are based on innovative activitiesand motivational interactions. Children areencouraged to complete their application-

based assignments after watching enrichingvideos and powerpoint presentations madeby their mentors in Google Classrooms.Doubt-clearing sessions are also conductedto rectify common errors. Quiz contests basedon variety of subjects are being held to alle-viate any feelings of boredom.

Heart-warming celebrations like Moth-ers’ Day and Rabindra Jayanti were also heldonscreen. Adamas also reached out to par-ents by initiating its first-ever online parent-teacher meeting, which got a huge positiveresponse. Children and their parents havetaken quite well to this novel adjustment andthey are enjoying it thoroughly. Though thisis a trying time, Adamas has proved yet againthat united, we can survive anything, forchange is the only constant.
