Welcome to the 2020 season here at The Playhouse and do we have a bumper collec on of shows for your delecta on!

The Thespians shows include ‘Allo ‘Allo adapted from the classic BBC series by David Cro and Jeremy Lloyd. Two Alan Benne plays feature in the Bar Studio in April - Green Forms and Say Something Happens; whilst a thriller and dark comedy Mindgame opens in May. J B Priestley’s comedy When We Are Married arrives in June and September sees Michael Aitkens adap-ta on of his own Ba a award winning BBC comedy series Wai ng For God.

Ticket prices stay the same as last year and we have amended the reduced price Early Bird ckets so that now its 7 days before the specifi c show day.

All Souls’ bring us the ever popular Fiddler on the Roof in March and then its wall to wall Tribute bands and singers. We have visits from alto egos of Dame Shirley Bassey, Dolly Parton, Rod Stewart, Abba, The Jam, Dire Straits, Queen and Take That. Before that we have a celebra on of the Ul mate 70s music to get you dancing.

A er months of monitoring we have found that very few people visit the Playhouse Box Offi ce during weekday a er-noons. As this is being covered by volunteers we have decided to stop this, eff ec ve with ‘Allo ‘Allo. We remain open for shows on the Saturday before, from 1pm to 5pm; the Saturday of show week from 1pm to 5pm; and half an hour before each show. Remember you can get even lower priced ckets for Thespian shows by becoming a member. The Ultimate 70s Show The Ultimate 70s Show The Ul mate 70s Show is a totally live 7 piece tribute to the Seven es featuring Marlyn Metcalf ex of 70’s super-stars Geordie; alongside the powerhouse vocals of Chris Peters and Jen Normandale.

Playhouse Stage-Training (ST) is a group aimed at those aged 16+ who have a passion for all things theatre. Whether you have lots of experience or none at all, ST aims to share knowledge and experience through regular workshops and amateur productions to help anyone with an interest in performing arts (as a whole) to learn and develop techniques and key skills.

As an arm of the Halifax Thespians we at ST are able to use the resources on off er to help all members as well as put on three performances a year-two at the Halifax Playhouse and one as an outdoor performance! New members will have the opportunity to be involved in all projects of Playhouse Stage-Training as well as with the Halifax Thespians’ productions.

You may be actively involved on or off the stage, with opportunities to learn not only acting skills but behind the scenes (backstage) such as lighting, sound, assistant-stage-manager or stage-manager, even front of house roles are available! We meet every Wednesday 7-9pm at the Carlton Rooms, Hill Street, Halifax, HX1 2EN. If you’re interested feel FREE to come along. All are welcome and there is a role for everybody!
