Spring 2018 Arts & Flowers Festival Reduced-Fee Early Application Deadline: 11/22/17*

Location:
The Arts & Flowers Festival will be held on the grounds of
Tryon Arts and Crafts School at Harmon Field in Tryon, NC.
Event Dates and Times:
Saturday, April 21: 10am to 5pm
Sunday, April 22: 11am to 5pm
Artist Check-In: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday or 6:30 a.m. to
9 a.m. Saturday
Keep in mind that NO cars will be allowed in the loading areas
after 9 a.m. Saturday; please plan accordingly.No cars on the
grass at any time, except for marked parking areas.
Artist Load Out: Artists may begin packing up at 5pm on
Sunday and cars will be allowed in the loading areas at 5:30.
Advertising and Promotion:
Tryon Arts and Crafts’ advertising and publicity campaign will
be promoted throughout the region with media in print and
radio. The festival will be marketed through social media, the
Tryon Arts and Crafts School website, and in tourist
publications and offices. The festival committee will select
the publicity image for each artist from the images submitted.
Eligibility and Rules:
Artists must be present during the entire event and
must personally staff the exhibit space.
Artists who would like to share a booth may do so,
but both applicants must apply separately and be
accepted. Both artists will pay the application fee,
but may share the booth fee.
All work exhibited must be original, handcrafted
work produced by the artist and may not be the
result of work from commercial kits or molds.
Artists may only exhibit and sell work in the media
category for which they are accepted. The work
exhibited must match the quality and style as
represented by the artist in his or her application.
Any artist closing their booth prior to the end of the
festival will not be permitted to return the following
day or in subsequent years.
We prefer that you leave pets at home.
Cancellation/Refunds
Exhibitors who do not show and do not cancel will
not be re-invited.
Checks for Booth fees will be returned promptly to
artists not accepted
.Booths:
Booth structures and tents MUST be of festival
quality, and no larger than 10’ x 10’. Tents must
have sides. Awnings are not permitted.
Exhibitors are responsible for providing all booth
structures, racks, tables, chairs and other fixtures
suitable for outdoor use.
Demonstrations of your craft are welcome and
encouraged in your booth.
You MUST stake and weight your tent. Be prepared
for windand all types of weather!
Booth assignments are at the sole discretion of the
festival and are not interchangeable. Tryon Arts and
Crafts School will attempt to honor specific space
requests, however we make no guarantees.
Exhibitors will NOT receive booth numbers until they
arrive at the festival.
Electricity is available to artists for $25. Artists must
request electricity when submitting application.
Entry Guidelines and Application Fees:
This is a juried event.
All work must be original and current.
Please enclose $25 in a check or money order for the
application fee. This fee is non-refundable.
Please enclose a separate check in the amount of
$100 (*$80 early application fee if received by
11/22/17) for your booth fee. This original check
will be returned if you are not selected.
Please submit four (4) digital images of your work
and one (1) of your current booth display. By
submitting these images, the artist is granting Tryon
Arts and Crafts School permission to use them in
publicity for festival.
Images should be submitted on a CD as a JPEG file,
and the artist statement as a .doc file. Save files with
the artist’s last name and the title of the work and
label the CD with the artist’s name. The CD will not
be returned.
Your application will not be considered without a
booth image.
We are sorry, but slides and/orprinted photos will
NOT be accepted. We need digital photos for
advertising and producing a program.
Please submit a short artist statement explaining your creative process and materials used in artwork with your application (100 words or less, please include it as an electronic Word format document file on your digital photo CD). ** Applications may be accepted after January 19, 2018 as space allows until 3/16/18. This does NOT guarantee acceptance, as artists will still be juried.
