Tiger Nation,

As the next chapter of Tiger Athletics begins, we believe that it is

absolutely paramount that we have a strategic plan in place to

address our journey as a new comprehensive member of the

BIG EAST Conference. We have titled our plan “March to the East,”

and this past June, we formulated the process to create a strategic

plan by seeking input and feedback from our various constituencies

and major stakeholders.

Join me, my staff and our 400+ student-athletes on our journey to

not only compete in the BIG EAST, but to consistently win individual titles, conference

championships and national championships. Bearing the Memphis name, together we

will bring pride and glory to our city, as well as national recognition to our University!

The True Blue Society is an exclusive program that provides the ultimate Tiger donor experience. Becoming a member entitles you to benefits, including recognition at athletic events, exclusive naming rights, traveling with the team and attending special events with coaches and student-athletes. These benefits are not available through any other donation program.

What the true Blue society is not

Membership in the True Blue Society will not count toward your annual Tiger Scholarship Fund donation for priority seating and/or parking. Regular-season priority seating and parking levels are accessed through your annual donation to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. Current donations counted toward any priority seating or parking will not be included in your True Blue Society membership.

neW era / neW oPPortunities

On July 1, the University of Memphis will officially join the BIG EAST Conference. This historic move will provide our University with coast-to-coast media coverage and put the spotlight on our proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence. It’s an exciting time, but are we truly prepared?

Our student-athletes will face tough schedules and stiff competition from nationally recognized opponents. We need to bring our facilities up to the standards of other schools. We need to recruit better, to train better. Now more than ever, we need to give our teams what they need to succeed.

This is a pivotal moment in Tiger Athletics. We’re on the precipice of a bold new era, and you have an opportunity to do something monumental. You can make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes, the University and our city. Game on.

1. Our highest mandate is to educate and graduate our student-athletes while facilitating continued growth in their personal skills, career development and citizenship.

2. Win championships and qualify for postseason competitions.

3. Promote the principles of gender equity, diversity, ethical conduct, transparency and integrity through education and multiple streams of communication.

4. Establish a culture of fiscal accountability through transparent and strategic financial decision making, proper resource allocation and management; operate as a positive, efficient and effective component of the University of Memphis.

5. Pursue capital donations for the University of Memphis’ Empowering the Dream Campaign, and develop resources for the transition as a new comprehensive member of the BIG EAST Conference.

6. Create a dynamic, comprehensive marketing plan to engage students, alumni, former student-athletes, the city of Memphis and surrounding communities through expanded media outlets, events, direct mail and volunteer opportunities to develop a loyal Tiger Nation and ensure maximum attendance at all athletic events.
