A majority of these seafarers come from underdeveloped or developing countries.

The Philippines alone supplies about 25% of the world’s seafarers.

This makes the Philippines the number one supplier of seafarers in the world.

90% of world trade is carried through shipping.

While on board the ship, the seafarer has to contend himself with receiving a very low salary with usually extraordinarily demanding work environment.
