What is Gout?
Gout is a group of symptoms that affect the joints. It is a severe form of arthritis characterized by joint pain,
stiffness, swelling and redness. Gout is caused by a build up of uric acid in the blood. The build up of uric acid results in the formation of crystal
deposits around the joints. Uric acid is a waste product that is made by the body from
purines. Uric acid normally gets removed by the kidneys.
