There's nothing better than discovering the beauty of Lake Como from the water: its unspoilt landscapes, its banks filled with luxuriant vegetation, sumptuous villas and small villages of rare beauty. During the cruise the guide will show you a succession of small towns with ancient stone bell towers and sumptuous villas along the shore between Torno and Blevio. Have a look also at the Comacina Isle that is reflected in the bay of Ossuccio and the characteristic bell tower of Santa Maria Maddalena. Proceed then to Bellagio, the pearl of the lake (the imposing Villa Serbelloni is placed on the highest part of the promontory) and walk along the narrow streets with shops on both sides.

Milan highlights full day

Our tour starts with discovering Milan from Piazza Duomo, where you admire the Duomo, that is one of Milan’s most important symbols. We go in and can climb up to the roof: you will find yourself surrounded by late-Gothic statues, admiring the sight of the city that spreads out before you. From Piazza Duomo we walk through the splendid Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, considered as the “Milan salon”, full of renowned shops and cafés. Continue the tour to Piazza della Scala, where you see the famous Topera house La Scala. If you are fond of theater costumes and sets, we recommend you visiting the La Scala Museum. From Piazza della Scala we go on to the nearby Via Dante and walk along until we get to the majestic Castello Sforzesco, the medieval residence of the Sforza family, which boasts a Pietà by Michelangelo in one of the several frescoed rooms. Behind the Castle, you can see Parco Sempione, the major park in town.

Last Supper, Milan

The refectory of the Domenican convent adjoining the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie houses one of the world's most celebrated masterpieces: Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper". The moment represented in the fresco is the one immediately after Christ's declaration to the apostles: "One of you shall betray me." Painted between 1494 and 1498 under the rule of Ludovico il Moro, Leonardo abandoning the traditional method of fresco painting, depicted the scene "a secco" on the wall of the refectory. Upon completion however, it was documented that this technique and environmental factors had contributed to the eventual deterioration of the fresco. Extensive measures have been implemented to protect the fresco from further exposure. To ensure that the fresco is kept at a correct and stable temperature, since the last restoration the number of visitors has been restricted to a group of 25 admitted every 15 minutes. IDI can arrange a private visit after closing time.
