Who needs insurance?
VISITORS TO CANADA
New visitors / immigrants waiting for the RAMQ (usually for 3 months)
Certain exceptions can apply

Immigrants with a work visa• Certain countries have an agreement with the province of Quebec
(Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal and Sweden)
• Certain organizations, such as UPA, have agreements with the province of Quebec
• Quebecers who return after an absence of longer than 12 months

•STUDENTS ATTENDING HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY
•The majority of universities offer a mandatory program for students.
•The students interested in an international student plan are the ones who come here with their families.

• The plans offered by the universities are very expensive – an average of $4 000 and more. The plans are also very limited in their coverages.• Maternity is not covered• Certain plans do not permit any travel outside of the
province.

of coverage!
17Who needs insurance? SUPERVISA
•Program created by the Federal government to make it easier for the parents and grandparents of Canadian Citizens and permanent residents to visit
them in Canada.
• The insurance must be purchased from a Canadian broker prior to their arrival.
• Renewable for a maximum of 10 years.• Minimum coverage $100 000• Medical visit mandatory in their country
of origin.• The person who does the application
must prove that he / she has the revenue to support his / her parents or grandparents while in Canada.

CERTAIN INSURANCE COMPANIES REFUSE TO COVER IF THE PERSON ARRIVED IN CANADA MORE THAN 30 DAYS AGO.
AT OGILVY, THE MINIMUM COVERAGE IS $50 000
VISIT TO THE UNITED-STATES REQUIRES A COVERAGE OF MORE THAN $50 000.
INSURANCE MUST BE FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THEIR STAY.
MUST PASS AT LEAST 51% OF THE TIME IN CANADA.
Insurance covers emergenciesCertain companies will also cover pre-existing conditions if there is stability for 4 or 6 months.
Repatriation of remains in the event of death.For the majority of companies, the contract concludes once they have returned to their country of origin.The coverage does not apply in the country of origin.
Maternity
The majority of plans do not cover maternity, unless the plan is purchased for a full year and that the client is not pregnant at the time of the purchase.
Student plans that we offer make an exception to this rule.
The newborn can not be insured prior to 15 or 31 days of age, as per the insurance companies.
