Yas Island Link, Abu DhabiClient: Taisei Corp.

The proposed tunnel structure forms a link between the southern Marina Village zone of Yas Island and the Abu Dhabi mainland in an area between the Al Raha Beach and ICT developments. It is anticipated that this link will connect initially to the existing grade separated rounda-bout serving the airport, and later to a new all movements grade separated junction that will serve both the new Airport and Yas Island. The total length of the tunnel is approx. 1,015 m including the U-shape section approaches.

The tunnel consists of three cells - two three-lane highway cells and a public transport cell. The two highway cells were proposed to be 15.05 m wide, and accommodate three lanes of traffic and two pedestrian walkways in each direction. The public transport cell has a width of 9 m, wide enough to allow a two way running of the chosen LRT system. The public trans-port cell also houses the majority of the tunnel services.CRHI also accomplished the at grade connection to the main Yas Island F1-Circuit and the Yacht Club including the special requirements of Gates 4, 5 and 6, as well as preparing the link to the future parking lots.

Pedestrian & Cyclist Manual, DubaiClient: Dubai Municipality / RTA - Roads and Transport Authority

CRHI carried out the comprehensive pedestrian and cyclist study of the Emirate of Dubai and reviewed various international standards to improve Dubai Municipality practices and standards. The study also included an in-depth survey of all of Dubai’s inventory related to pedestrians and cyclists. The result was the production of the current “Dubai Pedestrian and Cyclist Design Manual”.

The proposed road corridor starts south of the existing Sheikh Zayed road interchange and generally crosses the following major road corridors. It includes six grade-separated inter-sections, tunnels, pedestrian bridges and service roads. Two different categories of roads were to be created within the same corridor, with an express way of three lanes level-seper-ated from the boulevard. It also includes a provisional LRT system centred within the median and passenger stations.Work performed included value engineering design, road design, complete infrastructure design, traffic impact studies and analysis.Due to the general economic situation the project was put on hold.
