Transferring Contacts Between an iPhone and an ’08-‐’11 Mercedes C-‐Class or GLK-‐Class (vehicle must have Multimedia Package)
You will need three important items before you begin: First, you’ll need an SD Memory Card (see the image below):
Second, you’ll need an SD Memory Card-‐to-‐PCMCIA Adapter Card (see the image below):
Third, you’ll need the ability to read SD Memory Cards on your computer. Some computers have built-‐in SD Memory Card slots while others require a USB Media Card Reader that can be purchased at your local electronics store. The SD Memory Card and the PCMCIA adapter are available in our Parts Department. Now, make sure that your iPhone is synchronized with your computer so that all of your telephone contacts are in your computer’s address book. The overall process of the transfer involves exporting your contact list from your computer and saving it onto the SD Memory Card, placing the SD Memory Card into the PCMCIA adapter, placing the adapter (with the memory card in it) into the PCMCIA memory card slot in your C-‐Class or GLK-‐Class Mercedes, and, finally, importing the data from the memory card into the vehicle. To transfer the contacts, follow these steps: 1 -‐ Insert your SD Memory card so that it is recognized as a disk drive on your computer (use either a built-‐in SD Memory Card Slot on your computer or a USB Media Card Reader purchased separately):
2 – From your address book program, select all your contacts and export the list as “vCards” (see the example below:
3 – In the resulting “Save As” dialog box, make sure that you save the vCard file on the SD Memory Card that is mounted as a disk on your computer:
4 – Now, Eject the SD Memory Card from your computer and place it into the PCMCIA adapter making sure to push the memory card ALL THE WAY into the adapter (the SD Card in the image below is only halfway inserted for illustrative purposes):
5 – Insert the PCMCIA Card Adapter (with the SD Memory Card in it) into the Memory Card Slot on the Dashboard of your vehicle, and switch the display of the COMAND system to Telephone mode. 6 – Make sure your iPhone is paired to your vehicle via BlueTooth, and then highlight the “Phone” menu in the lower-‐left corner of the screen:
7 – Activate the “Phone” menu and select “Import External Data” from the menu, and your contacts will be copied into your vehicle:
