Tony: Ithinkimpossibleisnotafact,it'sanopinion.Whensomeonetellsmeit'simpossible,Ialwaysjustlookatthem.Anybodyaroundmeknowsthattheycan'tdothat.That'spartofit.Iftheydidnowme,it'syouropinion,andI'llsaynoscienceshows...I'llsay,"Howmanytimesascienceshowsomethingisimpossible,nowscienceshowsispossible?"Thingsareimpossibleuntilsomebodydoesit.Ifindthatmostofyoubusinesspeople,youlookatbusinessesandwhatdoesittaketomakeabusinessgrow.It'snotimpossibleforabusinesstogrow.Businesshasbeenshrinkingforalongtime,orit'sbeenstuck.Therealproblemisalways,thechokeholdisalwaysthepsychologyandtheskillsoftheleader,always.80%ofthatispsychologyand20%ifthemechanics.

Youneedastrategy,butthat'snotthefirstplaceyoushouldlook,andit'sthefirstplaceallofuslook,metoo.It'sourinherentthing,youwanttoloseweight?Well,howdoIdoit?Iwanttogrowmybusiness.HowdoIdoit?It'sinstinctively.You'vebeentrainedtothinkthatway.Theproblemisthehow-toisusuallynotthatcomplex.Comeone,70%ofAmericaiswhat?75%ofAmericanowisoverweight.Isthatbecauseit'ssocomplexhowtobefitandstrong?Onlythethe1%knowtheanswer.Theyhideitfromyou.Youhavetoworkyouassofftonothearwhatittakes.Right?

IrememberIwenttoaTEDMEDCenterandIwatchedabout12doctors,oneafteranothergetupanddothesestoriesabouthowwecouldjustgetpatientstotaketheirmedicationsandtrytofigureoutthewholething.Iwasjustlookingandgoing,"You'realltalkingaboutstrategyandyou'veforgottenpsychology."Strategyiswonderful.I'mastrategist.Ihavemywholelifethinkingoutstrategies.Aswebothknow,astrategycouldsaveyoudecade,andabusinessstrategycouldmakethedifferencebetweensuccessandfailure.Mostpeoplehavestrategiesavailable,ortheycouldgetthem,oryoucouldcreatethem.Theproblemisyougotastory.Yourstoryiswhyitisn'tworking.ThestoryisI'vetried,what?Everything.

Everybodyhasgoalsanddreamsthataredifferent.Somepeoplewantpicketfence.Somewanttomakeabilliondollars.Somewanttohavethishugebreakthroughintechnology.Somepeoplewanttowritepoetry.WhateverisrightforpeopleiswhatIwantthemforthemselvesIdon'twanttobelikemeoryouoranybodyelse.Iwantthemtohavetheirdream.Tohavethat,youneedto2skills.Youneed,number1,tohavethescienceofachievement.It'sascience,youhavetokonwhowtotakeyourvisionandmakeitreal.Mostofthepeopleassumedthey'vealreadyfiguredthatout.Thisguysureashellhas.YouhaveandIhave.Mostofusknow,andwecanallrefineourskillsinthatarea,butweknowhowtotakewhatwedreamabouttomakeitreal.Ifyoudon't,youcanlearnfromsomebodywhodoes.

Thesimplestthingisgetcrazilyhungryforsomething.Weallknowwhenyougetsohungry,sodesirous,yourbrainstartstocomingupwithanswers.Thenit'smassiveactionbuteffectiveexecution,whichisallmodeling,whichiswhatIassumewhatthisisabout.Findthebestexample,compressthetime.Letsomeoneelsetake20yearstofigureout,youdoitin2weeksor2months,orwhateverperiod.Weshouldallbestandingtoshoulderswithpeoplearoundus,insteadofreinventingthewheel.Thenthere'sthingcalledgrace.Ifyouworkyourassoff,yourtotallyfocused,you'retryingtoservesomethinglargerthanyourself,andyoureallyareexecutingwhatworks,youneedalittlegrace.Youmightwanttocallitluckifyouprefer,God,theuniverse,butit'sthere,andwecanallachieve.

Inthemidstofallthoseelements,I'dcomebackandsay,"IfIcanfigurethisout,Icanhelpanyotherbusiness."AlmostallmyskillhavecomebecauseofsomethingIhadtosolveinmeorhelpsomeoneelseof.MyviewisifIcanfigureitoutforme,Icanhelpmillionsofpeople.Thatmakestheprobleminspiring,asopposedtotheproblembeing,"Whydidithappentome?"becausewe'reallgoingtoexperienceproblems.Theonlythingthatweallhaveincommoniseveryoneisgoingtoexperienceseverepain.Idon’tcarehowrichyouare,moneyisnotgoingtocreateimmunitytopain.

Suffering,youcangetimmunityfromfromthedecisionItoldyouabout.We'reallgoingtohaveproblems,we'reallgoingtohavechallenges.Theonlydifferenceiswhatthehellareyougoingtodowiththem?Ifwejustdealwithourownproblems,theygetreallyboring,andsomepeopleneedproblemstohavedramaintheirlife,tocoverthefactthey'renotdoinganything.Ithinkit'smuchmoreinterestingtosolveitandmoveon,andhelpotherpeopledothesame,becauseyou'veactuallydoneit,notbecauseyou'vetalkedaboutit.

Ononestudy,theytooksomepeopleandtheyhiredactorsthatwouldgoto100people.They'dwalkuptoyou.You'retrainedtodotheexactsamelook,sameexpression,andthey'dsay,"Wouldyouholdthis?"Theyhandyouacoffeecupandtheyreachintheirpocket,andgrabbedtheirphone,putthembackandsay"Thankyouverymuch."Theyjustkindofassumetheaction.Theywoulddothesameway,samefacialexpression.100peopleoneway,100peopleother.Whatwastheonlydifference?Coldicedcoffeeversushotcoffee.Anhourlater,theycomebackwithsomedifferentpeoplewhogotlittlecapson,they'resaying,"Listen,we'llgiveyou$10ifyou'llgiveus2minutesifyoureadthis3paragraphstoryandgiveus2questionsandanswers."

languagepatterns.80%likeclockworkofpeoplegottheicedcoffee,samestory,saythatthey'reverycold.Thelanguagelikebeingobsessedorbeingaboutthemselves,selfish,thingsofthisnature.I'dgiveyoudozensofexamples.WhatIdoeachmorningisdoabreathingpattern.It'sanexplosivebreathingpatternthatIlearnedinIndia.Breathing,breathinandexplodingitout,fromthegutoutthenose.Idothat3setsof10,pause,3setsof10,pause,3setsof10.

Italtersmystate,andIjustdo3thingsfor10minutes,becausehavethisdealwithmyself.Ifyoudon'thave10minutesforyourself,youdon'thavealife.Who'swithmeonthis?Isaid,"Youknowwhat?Idon'tneedtohave20-minute,30-minute,40-minutemeditations.Iwant10minutes,andIdon'tneedtomeditate.Idon'tknowifI'mgoingtomeditate.Tonotthink,Idon'tknowiftoomanypeoplecandothat.Idon'tevenknowifIwanttonotfreakingthink.Ithought,"WhatIwanttodoisIwanttofocusontheemotionsthatwillcausemetobethebetterme."The2emotionsthatmostpeoplearemessedupbyareangerandfear.Whenyou'regrateful,youcan'tbeangry.Trytobegratefulandangrysimultaneously.It'llneverwork.Youcan'tbefearfulwhenyou'regrateful.

WhenIlookatpeople,almostalways,they'rereactingoutoffear,orthey'rereactingoutofanger,someversionofthose2.Gratitudetomeistheantidote.Ispend3minutes,just3minutes,andIthinkof3thingsthatI'mgratefulfor,3people,3situations3people,butIstepintoit.Idon'tremembertherollercoasteroverthereridingit.Iputmyselffromthefrontseatgoingovertheedge,soIfeelthemoment.Imakesure1ofthe3thingsI'mgratefulforissomethingreallysimple,likethewindonmyface,orsomethingbeautifullikemychild'ssmile.ThereasonIdothatisbecauseIrememberinterviewingsomeoftheastronauts,BuzzAldrinandtheseguysthatmostofyouprobablyknow.

shakethepresident'shand,andnowwhatthehellareyou?You're32.Whatthehelldoyoudofortherestofyourlife?Youknowwhat?Ifyouknowthestoryofmanyoftheseastronauts,mostofthemhavesomemajoremotionalchallenges,right?Somehaveusedalcohol,somedrugs,andtheyhadareallyroughtimebecausetheyforgottofindadventureandasmile.Theythoughttheonlywaywastothemoon.

Itrainmyselftomakesurenotjustthebigbeautifulthingsthatareapartofmylife,butthelittlethings.Ifeelthatfor3minutes,thenIdo3minutesofablessing,ascornyasitmaysound.Iimaginelife,God,energy,comingintomybody,healingeverymuscle,everynerveinmybody,strengtheningeverythingashestrengthenthebestofme,mypassion,mylove,mygenerosity,mycreativity,myhumor,mylove.ThenIseeanyproblemthatneedstobesolvedjustbeingsolved,becauseotherwise,IhadtothinkIgottodoitall.ThenonceIfeelthatfully,theenergycomesthroughmeandbackthroughmemultipletimes,andthenIdoacircleofmyintimatefamily,mykidsandmywife,myfriends.

Thislittlecharacteroverhereisonmylist,andIjustcircleoutallthewayouttomyclients.Isendthatsameenergytothem.ThenIimagine,ascornyasitsounds,they'rebeinghealed,they'regettingwhattheyneedenergy-wise,they'rehavingthelifethattheydeserve.SoIdothatfor3minutes.Inthelast3minutesaremy3tothrive.Ithinkof3specificoutcomesthatmatteredtome,andIdon'tthinkaboutachievingthem.Isee,feel,andexperiencethemasdone,andIseetheimpactthatithas.Iseepeople'slivestouched.Iseethejoy.Ifeelitasdone,andIfeelgrateful.It's10minutes,buthonestly,itusuallygoes15or20,becauseI'mhavingadamngoodtime.

Byhavinga10-minutelock,there'snoexcusenotdoit,andIdoiteveryday,andIdon'thopeI'mgoingtofeelgood.Thenwhathappensisyou'reprimed.Literally,youseethingsinthroughadifferentsetoffilters.Youmakedecisions,someofthefilters.Also,thinkofit,mostpeoplearewiredforstress,they'rewiredforfrustration,they'rewiredforfeelinglonely.Theygotthehighwaytopissedoff,andthey'vegotdirtroadstohappiness.IdecidedI'mgoingtowiremyselftohappening.I'mnotevenbornthatway.MyviewisIhavetochangethewholeearth
