The military forts scattered along the coastline of Latium, born to defend the territory from the continuous

attacks from the sea of enemies, now stand as a symbol of troubled times. Some were incorporated in the

city walls, but others still retain all their charm to dominate stretches of coast free from urbanization and

become over the years the beautiful nature reserves.

We visit the nature reserve "Tor Caldara" in Anzio.

The reserve looks almost flat allowing for leisurely walks and ends at the sea on top of a cliff about 15

meters. The tower that is located within the nature reserve, had the function of controlling the coast from

pirate raids and stands on the highest point of the cliff.

We visit the Forte Sangallo in the city of Nettuno, which in the past defended the city from attacks from the

sea and now used for conferences and exhibitions.

A fascinating tour with the sea as the only protagonist and theme.
