Many Toenailfungus sufferers are ashamed to slip on their sandals during the hot summer months. With a new, patented laser procedure that kills the pathogens that cause toenail fungus, you won’t have to hide your toenails anymore, says Dr. Richard Jacoby, who has brought a new, FDA-approved technique to Scottsdale to help foot fungus sufferers.

The break-through technol-ogy, introduced at the American Podiatric Medical Association annual conference last year, is known as the inpulse

pinpoint laser treatment. There is no surgery, no pain, no topical ointments and no medications. “One treatment is all it takes,” says Dr. Jacoby. “Scientific studies of the inpulse pinpoint laser treatment are extremely encouraging. Coupled with good hygiene of the toes, the patient should experience long-term results.” The laser doesn’t cause a burn and to date, no known side effects have been found, he adds.

Complications of fungusMore than 10 million Americans suffer from yellow, brittle, discolored toenails as a result of toenail fungus. While some may think there is only a cosmetic

purpose behind curing this infection, studies prove that when left untreated, toenail fungus can develop into long-term damage and difficulty walking, says Dr. Jacoby.

A common condition among people of all ages, the causes of toenail fungus range from genetics, diabetes, trauma and poor foot care. The primary pathogen responsible for toenail fungus is called trichophyton rubrum fungus.

Sufferers tend to try a range of solutions, including topical ointments and oral medications. And yet, many sufferers complain about the repeated applications and trips to the pharmacist to refill another two- or three-month round of oral medications. “While effec-tive, these oral treatments are expensive, cause liver damage, and often need to be repeated,” says Dr. Jacoby. “Instead, patients can make one 30-minute trip to the Laser Center, and the laser beam will kill the main pathogen responsible for toenail fungus.”

The specially designed laser shines through the toenail to vaporize the fungus instantly. According to the center, the laser doesn’t burn, there is no harmful UV radiation, and the patient can walk right out with no side

effects. Clinical studies show more than 88 percent of patients demonstrated significant improvement, and in most cases, the toenail fungus was completely cured. Utilized by top podiatric surgeons in California, this technology is now easily accessible to Arizona residents thanks to Dr. Jacoby, president of the Laser Nail Center.

Dr. Jacoby is one of 250 doctors worldwide who perform a complicated foot, ankle, and leg surgery called dellon decompression that prevents amputa-tion. His Scottsdale Neuropathy Institute has been praised for providing hope to diabetic patients who in the past may have unnecessarily lost their limbs. He is a graduate of the Institute for Peripheral Nerve Surgical Decompression from Johns Hopkins University.

The Laser Nail Center gives those dealing with toenail fungus a vision for the future: showing off strappy sandals in as little as three months.
