TRANSCRIPT
To ensure exceptional performance, Domus has selected one single species – European White Oak (Quercus robur.L) – renowned for its inherent strength and quality. Sourced from the prestigious forests of Mazury, Poland, this fine oak grows slowly, creating an extremely dense, tall and straight timber; robust, consistent and reliable. And naturally, it’s FSC® 100%.
In the heart of the forest, these majestic specimens are felled with care, then expertly transformed. Utilising generations of skill and experience, the trunks are stripped, sawn and trimmed to provide optimal yield for our selected formats. Under watchful quality control procedures, the oak is then expertly kiln dried before being married to the multi-layered ply body that supports and underpins the Domus Wood Collection.
Precise, rigorous and engineered to perfection.
Italian style and technology
Our state of the art production in Ravenna employs the latest technologies, combined with decades of artisanal and industrial expertise, to create the carefully designed Domus Wood Collection. Every stage of the journey from forest to finished product is developed with integrity and managed with care. Specialist surface treatments, colouring and finishes are brought together to lend each product its unique character and superior performance. Here, the beauty of wood is realised.
The re-generation of one of London’s most iconic landmarks, Battersea Power Station, is at the heart of a massive new development that includes 3,500 homes, offices, shops, restaurants, a theatre and a six-acre park.
Phase 1 of the Battersea Power Station development, designed by dRMM and Ian Simpson Architects, involves the construction of over 850 apartments integrating retail, leisure and hospitality areas. For the show apartments, designed and finished by Johnson Naylor, pre-finished engineered oak herringbone floors from the Domus Parquet Collection were selected, featuring two specially crafted colours in rich brown and light natural tones.

The world-famous book store, Foyles, now resides in one of the UK’s most dynamic and spacious interiors that includes a café, auditorium and gallery that hosts year-round literary and music events. The old university building of Central St. Martin’s was redeveloped by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands into an inviting split level floor layout with a generous central light well and atrium.
The original floor from the old ballroom was restored and re-laid in the central area, and a new Domus engineered oak floor added to the remainder of the new areas including the entrance lobby, book aisles, stairways, lift areas, café and exhibition spaces.

Large plank and complementary smaller strip-wood parquet formats were selected for specific areas to complement each space – the warm tonal variation of thenatural oiled ‘Select’ wood gradegives the floor a distinct, organiccharacter that performs to a highstandard for this busy Londonretail business.
‘ When we first discussed the supply of timber flooring for Foyles, our specific finish requirements were not available in their existing product range. Domus worked quickly to develop a finish which precisely met our visual requirements. We also had the benefit of their excellent technical support throughout the duration of the project.’ James Parkin, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands

Engineered timber is a compelling choice for interior flooring – designed, manufactured and finished with the highest standards of quality and performance in mind.
The selection of the oak grade and combination of colour, finish and format have all been carefully specified and individually detailed.
For both our plank and parquet collections, the surface layer of hand-selected European oak is applied to an engineered birch base layer, acquired with equal environmental responsibility.
All products in this brochure are certified FSC® 100%.
FSC® chain of custody procedures are rigorously adhered to, assuring clients that the products specified are responsibly sourced.
The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
Founded in 1993 in response to public concern towards deforestation, the FSC® is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities. Every link between the forest and the finished product is certified, guaranteeing clear and unequivocal sourcing information and chain of custody.
It is the natural features and characteristics of the wood that determine the grade.
Our own grading criteria exceeds the industry standards – each plank is hand selected by the size and frequency of knots, cracks and other natural features, and complies with BS EN 13489.
Certain grades are only available for specific plank widths or parquet formats, as standard:
