Specified Conditions of Use The WS-35026 Automatic Safety Inflation Cage has been designed exclusively for inflating tires, using the instruments with which it is equipped in this manual.

START-UP After pneumatic and electrical connections are made to the tire inflator. Ensure the following:

1. Make sure the cage is in the fully closed and locked position. 2. For efficient tire inflation ensure that the minimum air supply pressure is 10

PSI above the intended maximum inflation range. 3. At start up the software level will immediately show the software level, e.g.,

P3.4 followed by switch on/off on LCD digits. 4. The unit will open for a very short time one deflate pulse before returning to

the SET default pressure. Do not connect hose to tire during start-up or Error 5 will show.

OPERATION

1. Set required pressure value via +/- buttons. 2. Roll the tire into the safety cage and connect the hose to the tire. 3. Close and lock the safety cage – filling process will then start automatically.

(Note for long inflate or deflate pulses, the Display will indicate a Virtual Tire Pressure to indicate user feedback.)

4. A long acoustic signal is given when required target value is reached; the display will also display “End.”

5. Remove Connector from tire (the set value will remain at last value).

WARNING!

Any use other than that described herein is considered improper use and shall be construed as negligence.

WARNING!

To stop the machine in an emergency, disconnect the plug from the electrical supply. Remove the compressed air supply line by disconnecting the snap coupling, and then release any residual pressure inside the tire by operating the deflation button.

ATTENTION!

In case of a completely empty tire, the button “OK” has to be pressed twice. This will enable up to 10 separate air burst (of increasing duration, e.g., <72 PSI 1-2-3-----10 sec >72 PSI 2-4-6-8-10 sec) to enable the tire to Auto Start (a tire pressure of 4 PSI).

10

ARI-HETRA’S Automatic Safety Inflation Cage is not suitable for the filling of bicycle tires with standard (Presta Woods) bicycle valves and adapter, or inflatable airbed, etc. Overfill of the tire is possible! Only inflate Schrader type valves (8V1/12V1).

OPS Over Pressure Setting The unit can be set to inflate over the pressure required to a maximum of 29 PSI and then stop and deflate to the set pressure automatically. To set this, press the OPS/N2 button. The message “OPS” and “0” will flash. Use the +/- buttons to set the over pressure required. 0 to 29 PSI is the range. Once set, press the flat tire button to confirm the setting into the program. To operate, set the pressure required and connect to the tire. To start, press the flat tire button. The over pressure facility only operates from flat. If the tire has > 4 PSI pressure inside, then the unit will simply inflate to the set pressure and stop.

1. Press OPS/N2 button (display will toggle between OPS and pressure value. 2. Select Over Pressure required by + or – buttons. 3. Press Flat Tire key to accept (display will return to normal tire pressure

setting).

Nitrogen Inflation and Purge Facility N2 The unit will operate with Nitrogen with no problems at all. The Nitrogen must be supplied in place of air. The unit has a Nitrogen Purge facility which will enable the tire to be filled with a Nitrogen-rich mixture (up to 95% Nitrogen). To set the Nitrogen purge facility, press the OPS/N2 button twice. The display will flash “N2” and “0”. Use the +/- buttons to set the number of purges required. The range available is 0 to 5 times. Once set, enter into the program by pressing the flat tire button. Set the pressure required and connect to the tire. The unit will deflate the tire to 4 PSI and then inflate to pressure with the Nitrogen supply. This will be done as many times as is set. The tire will then be inflated to the set pressure.

Adjustment:

1. Press OPS/N2 key until display indicates N2 and cycle number. 2. Enter number of Purge cycles (0-5) 3. Save setting by pressing Flat Tire key 4. Connect to tire – unit will inflate to set value before commencing

Deflate/Inflate cycles. (During this phase the display will show Cycle number to indicate feedback to user.)

5. Purge and correct pressure adjustment is completed by the display showing END and an audible signal.

Note: It is possible to combine the OPS feature with the N2 purge feature to speed the time taken with Tires to Rim assembly. Increasing the number of purge cycles will add considerable time taken to inflate to the target 95% Nitrogen purity, especially on truck tires.

To alter Pressure unit (certain models only)

Press OPS/N2 until CAL appears on display, adjust using + or – buttons and save by pressing Flat Tire key.

For inspection and checking of the actual tire pressure (Annual Inspection or Calibration check), the following can be performed:

• Simultaneously depress + and – keys together (long sound tone will be heard)

then press OK button 5 times. • Tire pressure will now display pressure resolution to .145 PSI. User may then

compare pressure accuracy to test apparatus (Note: unit will not function as tire inflator).

• By pressing any button, the unit will resume to normal screen operation.

DUMP (VENT) VALVE OPERATION

In the event of a mishap while inflating a tire, purge all air from the tire and airline before lifting the cage. NEVER open the cage if the tire is not properly mounted on the rim without first bleeding air out of tire. 1. Remove black plastic cap.

Page 12: Tire Cage Owners Man-2 - ARIHetra Service Manuals/Tire Cage... · 0206-WS-35026 Owner’s Manual WS-35026 Tire Inflation Safety Cage READ THIS MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE OPERATING AND

12

2. Normal operating position for the valve is up towards control. To vent

(dump) the air in the hose and tire, pull down on the sleeve towards the hose.

3. Insert a flat tipped screwdriver into the hole, place the tip over the sleeve flange.

Pivot up on the screwdriver to lower the sleeve towards the hose. This will allow the hose and tire to depressurize in about 5-10 minutes.

Page 13: Tire Cage Owners Man-2 - ARIHetra Service Manuals/Tire Cage... · 0206-WS-35026 Owner’s Manual WS-35026 Tire Inflation Safety Cage READ THIS MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE OPERATING AND

13

4. This photo shows the valve in the vented position.

5. Reset the valve by pushing up on the sleeve to the normal operating position.

6. During venting, the pressure reading on the display will bleed down to a lower pressure. When the pressure is below 15 psi, the cage can be opened and the hose disconnected from the tire.
