MASTERING THE BASICS
Posture
• To become a better Singer or to obtain a better voice, you should be in the right posture while singing.
• Never tilt or curve your body, Be straight while sitting or standing.
Breathe From Your Diaphragm
• Diaphragmatic breathing causes a lot of worry and confusion in a lot of singers.
• Sometimes singers even get so bound up by trying to breathe correctly for singing, that their voice ends up getting riddled with bad habits.
Open your Vowels
Try saying A-E-I-O-U. Your jaw should not close on any of those. If you can't keep your jaw down, use your fingers to pull it down. Keep repeating the vowels until you can say them with your mouth open.
Focus on your vocal range
•Range – the notes your body can produce•Tessitura – part of the range which is most comfortable to sing•Timbre – unique voice quality and texture•Vocal registers – how extended each register is•Speech level – speaking range
Controlling Your Voice Areas
• The voice has three different areas: the chest register, the head register, and the middle register. Each of these areas refers to the range of notes sung from that section of the body.• For that, Knowing to control your voice area will be better for singing.
Drink Plenty of Water
• Learn to sing better by drinking plenty of water.
• Water helps to keep the vocal chords moist and fluid so they can easily open and close.
• Aim to have at least one pint of water a day.
