The holiday season is here, which means things are about to get

hectic out on the road. Whether you’re getting your holiday

shopping done around town or hitting the highway, you’re sure to

encounter seasonal traffic. Let Toyota of North Charlotte help you take on holiday traffic with

these tips!

Tip #1: Check traffic before you leave the house.

It’s best to check road conditions before you leave the house. This will help you

avoid traffic by taking alternate routes.

Use Toyota technology to do it from behind the wheel, too – our Entune Audio Systems can give you both real time and predictive updates right

from the driver’s seat.

Tip #2: Give yourself extra time. There’s nothing more stressful

than trying to rush while you’re stuck in traffic. Why

not give yourself a little cushion? Try leaving the

house 10-15 minutes earlier than you normally would. If

you manage to bypass busy roads, you can stop for a

coffee or scroll your phone once you’ve arrived at your

final destination. Rushing and driving aggressively in traffic leads to accidents, so avoid

this practice.

Tip #3: Keep your cool.

It’s easy to lose your cool when you’re stuck in traffic. Keep yourself distracted with music and audiobooks, and use Toyota Bluetooth

technology to catch up with friends. Road rage

is a leading cause of collisions!

Tip #4: Use defensive driving skills.

Just because you’re following the rules of

the road doesn’t mean everyone else is,

unfortunately. That’s why it’s wise to employ defensive driving skills. When you’re ready for

anything, it’s much easier to react to other

drivers and avoid a collision before it

happens.

Tip #5: Brake and accelerate smoothly.

Try not to slam on your brakes or gas

when you’re driving in traffic. It ups your potential of getting into an

accident because other drivers have

less time to react to your movements. (It’s also bad for

your fuel efficiency.)
