Gather six plastic eggs and place one of the following items inside each egg: breadcrumb, paper cross, strip of cloth or tissue, rock, piece of candy. One egg will remain empty. As you tell the Resurrection story, let your child open the eggs. 1. Breadcrumb: Jesus ate dinner with His friends. 2. Cross: The next day, Jesus died on the cross. 3. Strip of cloth: He was wrapped in cloth and placed in a tomb. 4. Rock: A stone was placed in front of the tomb. 5. Empty egg: Jesus' friends came to the tomb and saw the stone had been moved. The tomb was empty! 6. Candy: Jesus is alive. That's the sweet surprise of Easter. Once you've finished sharing the story, encourage your child to use the eggs to retell the story. www.focusonthefamily.com

How do I share the true meaning of Easter with my preschooler?

One way is to share good books. We recommend: * The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story by Mike Berenstain * What is Easter? by Michelle M. Adams * An Easter Gift for Me by Crystal Bowman

Another way is to help the Easter story come alive by creating Preschool Resurrection Eggs. 3. Ladew Topiary Gardens Field Trip March 27, 2017

Dear Parents, In April, we will be taking a spring field trip to ladew topiary gardens located at 3535 Jarrettsville Pike in Monkton, MD. The “Signs of Spring” lesson will cover sprouting and blooming plants, pollination, animal growth and the relationships between plants and animals, which will supplement the plant and animal unit we cover at school in April. The program includes an exploration of the gardens led by Ladew instructors and volunteers. Students will be provided a scavenger hunt to help guide them and emphasize some signs of the season. You are welcome to bring bagged lunches if you’d like to eat in the designated lunch areas after your scheduled field trip time. You are also free to walk the grounds on your own after the program. Details of the trip are:

Date: Friday, April 21, 2017 Time: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. There will be no Extended Day session. Cost: $6.00 per child; $8.00 for adults Ladew Gardens does not allow siblings on this trip. In addition, they request no use of cell phones on the tour. It is recommended that children and chaperones wear proper clothing suitable for walking on wet lawns and muddy surfaces such as long pants and old tennis shoes or boots. Classes will be broken up into smaller groups of 10 or 11 children for the tour.

Please place the slip below, along with your cash or check made out to Tiny Tot School in an envelope marked with your child’s name in the box outside the classroom door by Thursday, April 6th. We are excited to attend this field trip and look forward to this great opportunity at Ladew Gardens.

Sincerely,

TTS Staff
