CGICGI means Computer generated imagery and is used for example in the film Avatar. To create this production they have used computer graphics. CGI is they way in which producers try to turn something really unreal into something that is realistic for the audience and it is also very easy way to different products form other productions. Computer generated imagery gives the opportunity to ensure that the audience receive a larger variety of products.

Digital video cameraThe introduction of video cameras has allowed the film makers to produce their film much quicker and easier than before and it also allowed them to reduce the equipment they had to bring to the stages. So they don’t have to bring the audio equipment and reels anymore because all of these things are included in a digital video camera. The introduction of digital video cameras has also reduced time and costs as it allows the film makers to edit their footage easy on advanced computer programmes.

The WWW

The world wide web has a major impact on the media industry as it allows them to distribute films, to exhibit them and to watch films in the internet. The world wide web is very important for the media industry as it helps them to do these thing much quicker than before. It is also much cheaper for the media industry because they can distribute their film with just one click and they don’t have to pay for the transport and stuff like that. The world wide web allows anyone in the world to view films anywhere and at any time they want.

Video on demand

Video on demand allows the audience to see a large variety of films at anytime they want. It has a positive impact on the media industry as it allows them to show their films to a larger audience. Video on demand has lots of advantages for the audience as it is easier for them to watch a film and they are also able to watch the film they want to at home which means that it is more comfortable for them.

DVD and Bluray

DVD is much cheaper for consumers and distributers and it gives the audience the opportunity to watch something when they want to watch it. Bluray allows the consumers to consume films in an extremely high quality. It also gives the same option as a DVD as they are able to view films whenever they want to.

Smartphones and tablets

Smartphones supports the prosumer movement- Pan Chan Wook filmed a short film just with the camera of his iPhone. Smartphones and Tablets also give the option to view films even if you are not at home. A disadvantage of smart phones could be that the audience might just watch films on their phone or at home and reduce to go to the cinema.

IMAX

IMAX is an advantage for the audience because it allows them to view films in a much higher quality. It also helped the cinemas to get more viewers because this technology can just be seen on cinema screens and because of this more people are going to the cinema again. It also acts as a deterrent to piracy as it is an unique experience.
