Parents Influence On Children

• Children whose parents smoke have a shorter life than children whose parents don’t smoke.

• Parents who smoke give their child easy access to cigarettes.

Pregnant Mothers Who Smoke

• Cause their babies to have slower growth.

• The child and mother get addicted to nicotine.

• Fetus is 200 – 250 grams lighter.

Movie Influence• Movies are one of the biggest influences on teens.• 80% of movies with smoking scenes are rated PG-13 and 50%

• ID card that allows people over the age of 20 to buy cigarettes in Japan.

• All vending machines require taspo card in June.

Peer Pressure

• When people the same age as you influence you to do something good or bad.

• One main reason teenagers smoke is peer pressure.

• Among young teens (aged 13 to 15), about one in five smokes worldwide.

• Around 50% of adolescents who smoke go on to smoke for 15 to 20 years.

Addiction

• Many teens don’t realize the risk they are taking when they smoke.

• Addiction is caused by the chemical Nicotine.

• You have to talk to your parents to see if you want to go to the same school.
