WELCOME

Thank you for visiting our Performance Framework site! As Headmaster of Thomas

Jefferson Classical Academy: A Challenge Foundation Academy, I have had the good

fortune to watch our school grow from 110 students in 1999 to nearly 1300 students in grades

K-12 on two campuses here in beautiful Rutherford County.

Our Core Knowledge Curriculum prepares our students well for college and beyond. To

date, 100% of our graduating seniors who applied to four year colleges have been accepted to

one of their top choice schools. Yet, what makes us so proud of our school is the family

atmosphere that we are able to achieve, thanks to a great staff of teachers who truly care

about the well being of their students, and our supportive parents who choose to send their

children to us. I hope that if you have the opportunity to visit with us, you will find the

atmosphere here inviting, safe, and conducive to learning. You will see engaged students

who participate in lively and interesting discussion in the classroom. You will see teachers

using the Socratic method of asking probing questions to help our students think through a

math or science problem, to compare literary characters, and to understand why important

historical events took place. You will see students expressing themselves in art, dance,

music, drama, club activities, and an array of interscholastic sporting programs. In sum, you

will find students and teachers unlocking the "The Lost Tools of Learning".

In looking to our future, we are so thankful that the Challenge Foundation has welcomed our

program into the family of Challenge Foundation Academies. We see the natural progression

of the Core Knowledge program in grades K-8 to the Classical Studies program in grades

8-12 as the best foundation a student can have to prepare him or her for success in life.

In addition to the Performance Framework provided, please review our comparative testing

scores on our school website, tjca.teamcfa.org. We are honored too, that The Washington

Post in its April 2015 edition recognized TJCA-CFA in the top 1% of the most challenging

high schools of the 22,000 high schools in the country, and ranked us #2 in the state of North

Carolina! Washington Post April 2015

Thank you, Joe Maimone, Headmaster
