The Big Island of Hawaii is loaded with activities for children and their families. Kiddos can swim with dolphins, snorkel amid schools of reef fish and swing through the air with the greatest of ease. Most water activities offer pint-sized snorkel gear, f lotation noodles and see-view boards; the buoyant boards allow non-swimmers to look underwater without snorkeling. For safety, some land and sea outfitters have age and weight restrictions while others offer free rides or discounts for toddlers. Many companies have rates for keiki under 12ask when booking. In our last issue we offered some standout options catering to kids and here we list more: Body Glove Cruises welcomes children of all ages for fun aboard their 65-foot catamaran outfitted with a curvy, 20-foot water slide, 15-foot high dive platform and easy access water ramp thats also handicap accessible. Body Glove serves yummy smoothies and hands out kiddie packs complete with coloring books and stickers to keep young minds happy while cruising. Hawaii Forest & Trail designs fun and informative tours so they double as an exciting, outdoor classroom. If keiki are old enough to be quietlook and listentheyll be thrilled by what they see and hear on the bird tours. Keiki are welcome on nearly every tour, but due to transport time or hiking, some adventures may not be appropriate for small children. Waipio Ride the Rim lets teens aged 16 and up operate ATVs while keiki 5 and up follow behind in the open-air Polaris Ranger. The course rounds the rim of majestic Waipio Valley and includes an optional swim under a secluded waterfall. Kohala Zipline is open to children 8 years and older who weigh at least 70 pounds. While not for keiki who are fearful of heights, the zipline courses are rated easy and one offers a swim under a sparkly waterfall. Adventure X Rafting travels up to 40 mph, offering passengers a fast, fun, Disney-like amusement ride aboard an upgraded Zodiac vessel. When we encounter dolphins, they tend to come up to kids to check them out, says Capt. Kelsey Poole.

Skyline Eco-Adventures offers zipline adventures on three Hawaiian islands and soars over windward Big Island waterfalls and lush valleys. The aerial zipline combines speed, height and scenery on a seven-line tour located in an otherwise inaccessible area near Akaka Falls. Skyline Akaka Falls is a 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner. Kohala Zipline offers a course with nine ziplines and five suspension bridges to take you from tree to tree, ending with an exciting rappel.
