this little girl got me thinking

This little girl got me thinking.
At age 48, I became a Mom to a beautiful little
girl, Maya.
She appears to be hanging on my every word, which got me thinking…
Besides “I love you
forever,” what do I
want to say to Maya?
Here’s what I’ve got so
far…
Keep your eyes open.
There really is
beauty to be found
most everywher
e you look.
Being strong doesn’t mean you don’t need anyone.
It’s OK to ride one day and rest the next.
Strive to be wise and never feel
foolish for asking questions.
Wish for a strong breeze but don’t invite a storm.
Embrace your innocence even as you grow and learn.
It is possible to keep your feet on the ground AND let your spirits soar.
Sometimes singing is good, sometimes silence.
Celebrate the commonalities and differences between you and your friends.
You can be forceful and still act with a gentle heart.
People need time alone, and time with those they love.
Even as you learn to stand on your own, remember Mama is always here for you.
Look at our home as a place for you to bloom.
Remember, mamas can be prickly some times, but we have good hearts.
Care about -- and frolic about -- this planet.
Learn from others, but steer your own course.
Appreciate the darkness and the light.
Even if you’re not
sure where you’re going,
have fun getting
there.
Remember that growing is a life long process…
…our lives are always flowing forward..
…and each new day is yours to create.
