DESCRIPTION
Polynomials in the Real World (cont.) From Steve Smith, the first application of polynomials he gives. Offer the students a simple example with a discussion about two-dimensional construction planning. For example, you could ask the students to create a garden and give them the total amount of available soil and the width of the garden. Then ask them to calculate the garden's length using the polynomial function. This type of example would be ideal for people who want to work in construction and will most likely help them advance more in their careers.TRANSCRIPT
Third Quarter Current Events Presentation: Polynomials

Polynomials in the Real World
• Polynomials can be integrated into real world scenarios pretty often. Using polynomials is often seen in, construction, architecture, aerospace and financial planning. In the following pages, there is an article from www.EHow.com.
• These articles will briefly talk about how Polynomials can be used in the real world.
Polynomials in the Real World (cont.)
• From Steve Smith, the first application of polynomials he gives.
• Offer the students a simple example with a discussion about two-dimensional construction planning. For example, you could ask the students to create a garden and give them the total amount of available soil and the width of the garden. Then ask them to calculate the garden's length using the polynomial function.
• This type of example would be ideal for people who want to work in construction and will most likely help them advance more in their careers.

• Second application of polynomials:
• For students planning to enter the legal or financial planning industry, many of the interest rate formulas are polynomial equations. For example, have a student calculate the value of his college savings account with a deposit amount of $200. Using the standard annual interest calculation of 2,000(1+r)^3, have the student calculate what value the account will have in three years.

• Third application that Steven White gives:
• Introduce the students to the complexities of architecture and how polynomials are applied in that field by showing them a video about how New York's Trump Tower was created and the application of polynomials with that building in a video clip from Thefutureschannel.com, an educational tools website.
Polynomials in the Real World (cont.)
• Final application of Polynomials:
• Entice your students with basic aerospace science through Newtonian physics problems such as the equations for objects in motion, projectiles and even air resistance.
Interests
We simply found the articles interesting because they were actually able to briefly
explain how using Polynomials can be applied in the real world. Before reading this article, both me and my partner had,
not even the slightest idea to how Polynomials could be applied. This article
enlightened both me and my partner.
What we learned
Just being straight forward, we learned how to apply Polynomials to real life situations. Doing this project made it a lot easier to
over all comprehend how these problems are used in real life. Another thing we got
down while we were doing this project is, a basic understanding of Polynomials, doing this project gave us a batter understanding
in general.
What else would we like to learn?
Well at the moment, to be honest, I'd rather stay away from this topic, and just leave it
how it is. So I guess the answer would simply be that we would rather not learn anything in regards to Polynomials. If we
avoid this topic, everything will be okay ^-^.
