As you can see from the 2nd Edition we are indeed evolving with every published copy. We do hope that you have enjoyed the Editor’s New Finds for her style recommendations, jewellery and other products.We learn from our mistake and are not afraid to admit it and make changes! We have had some interesting escapades whilst sorting this magazine and trying to streamline it to my vision. We have also met very interesting people, but looking for them was not that difficult. I am sure that some of you have read the papers and seen some of the boo-boos & crimes against Fashion committed by the celebrities on that day. Fortunately it was

those that shop in the high street who outdid the celebrities by being correctly dressed for the occasion, and for this I congratulate them

for paying respect to the rules and requirements of the Queen (an article which

was written in the previous edition).

A lot of outrageous and extravagant hats on display, some clearly ridiculous. In my

opinion among all the celebrities – the one who’s simple but effective elegance stood out

for me was ….Model Erin O’Connor (her outfit was truly chic!).

The networking was great and I would clearly recommend that people go there every year to mix and mingle (the champagne was also very

good)!

It was a good day and I enjoyed it!

This season colours are Nudes and Pastels according to the Trend Forecasters and Fashion Editors. Well those colours do not suit all of us and particularly not all races!

Accessories Special – Summer Report and Choices

Its been a long and gloomy winter for most of us this year – The longest on record so far.

So sunshine and heat would be a blessing and a celebration that we cannot possibly miss.

Although the catwalk have been telling us to wear nudes and pastels this season, most of us will probably not do that – after such a long miserable season of wearing formal and restraining dark and dull

colours due to such an appalling winter.

This particular tonic is actually designed for men, but it has been found that women love its fresh citrus tang. It’s a wonderful scalp stimulant and tonic made from a combination of box and bay leaves with a few drops of grapefruit essential oil.

Box encourages hair growth and Bay leaf relieves dandruff. The Cider Vinegar and Grapefruit Essential Oil have a stimulating effect too. Use the stimulant after your usual hair washing routine.

1 Take a handful of fresh bay & box leaves off the stem put in a large saucepan

2 Measure ½ litre of boiling water in a measuring jug and pour over the leaves in the saucepan.

3 Heat the saucepan over a low heat & bring to the boil. Simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally with a metal spoon. Remove from heat.

4 Allow the mixture to cool. Strain though a sieve into a jug. Discard the leaves. Add 150ml of Cider Vinegar & 15 drops of grapefruit essential oil – Stir gently and decant into a bottle

Lip care is very important and constantly overlook by most. The most stunning lips are those that are well conditioned and present a good base for lipstick or gloss.So here are some tips on how to take care of them and also prepare them on a special night out.

DIY LIPMASK

1 Mix 5ml of Vitamin E oil with 1 drop of Rose Oil

This gives lips instant shine without colour and helps to condition and protect their sensitive skin.

2 Apply this at night and never under lipstick!

N.B Oils make lip colour slide off in seconds.

DRY - CHAPPED - SCUFFED LIPS

1 Liberally apply Vaseline/petroleum jelly

2 Use old clean toothbrush to rub gently at

the skin

N.B This is the BEST WAY to exfoliate lips! NEVER PULL LOOSE PIECE OF SKIN.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN AVANT GARDE JEWELLERY DESIGNER?From a young age I have always been interested in Art and the Craft industry, so making jewellery in real life just naturally became the next step. After doing my BA in North Wales School of Art in Applied Arts: Jewellery, I decided that I needed something more, create bigger and more exciting jewellery pieces, which could both be seen as wearable and art within its own right. So doing a MA in Fashion Artefacts at London College of Fashion was the perfect move and course for me, it allowed this further expression and exploration in to a concept and materials to create beautiful artefacts (fashion and art).

WHERE DO YOU GET THE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR DESIGNS?The concept for my collection derived from my childhood traumatic experiences of multiple deaths within the family, and many were a direct result of the effects of cancer. It was a cathartic method of using my own traumatic life experiences into my practice based studio work. The intention of the collection was to juxtapose the ugliness of the disease and the ‘beauty’ of cancer, the metamorphosis of one’s body from one form, into another through the disease and treatment received.

SINCE GRADUATING CAN YOU TELL US WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU WITH REGARD TO YOUR DESIRED CAREER?Since graduating I have had a lot of interest in my pieces, I have been involved in various photo shoots for

magazines and so far have been featured in magazines, such as Vice, Mirrin and Tush. I am currently working as a designer/maker at Nude Jewellery in Mayfair and am also freelancing, while designing a new collection. So I am keeping very busy and feel this is important in the progression of my work and others.

HOW EASY IS IT TO BREAK INTO THE MARKET?Every new designer knows its hard breaking into the market, there are many financial constraints, especially now due to the recession, and there are many fabulous designers but I do feel that being in London amongst the hustle and bustle is integral for any designer and maker wanting to make it in the industry.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY HELP AND ASSISTANCE WITH THE ADVANCEMENT OF YOUR DREAM TO ESTABLISH YOUR BRAND?Luckily I have been massively supported by my family, without them I would not have got to where I am. Otherwise I have not had any outside support, and money is running out fast, I would love the opportunity for someone to take me on board to develop my own brand.

DO YOU MAKE YOUR ITEMS BY HAND/CAD/RHINO OR DO YOU NOW HAVE A MANUFACTURER?All my pieces are hand crafted by myself.

DID YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS JOB – BEFORE GOING INTO DESIGN?No, I have always been within the design field; it has been my passion since I can remember.

WHAT IS THE TARGET MARKET FOR YOUR BRAND?The target market for this brand if high end fashion accessories, I would love to have the opportunity to make for people such as Bjorg and Lady Gaga, and collaborate with designers such as McQueen, Shaun Leane and Hussain Chalayan.

DO YOU HAVE STOCKISTS – HOME OR ABROAD?Not at present as each piece is a one off design, but this is something I am looking into for future progression of my company.

DO YOU MAKE COMMISSIONED GOODS?All my products at present are for commission only.

WILL YOU BE PARTICIPATING IN ANY SHOWS & ARE YOU REGISTERED WITH ANY ORGANISATION?At present I am not involved in any shows that I know of, but there are many in the pipeline which I am waiting to hear back from. I am not registered with any organisations.

WHAT IS YOUR 5 YEAR PLAN?My 5 year plan is to develop my own brand as well as collaborate and work with other companies, I feel as a young designer/maker it is integral for me to work with other people within the industry in order to improve myself as a designer.

QU'EST-CE QUI VOUS A INSPIREE POUR DEVENIR DESSINATRICE DE BIJOUX AVANT GARDE? Dès un jeune âge, j'ai toujours été intéressé par l'art et l'artisanat, alors la fabrication de bijoux dans la vraie vie est devenue toute naturellement étape suivante.

Après avoir fait ma BA en Galles du Nord School of Art en arts appliqués: Bijoux, j'ai décidé que j'avais besoin quelque chose de plus, créer plus grand et plus passionnant des bijoux, ce qui pourrait aussi bien être considéré comme portable et de l'art au sein de son propre droit.

Donc faire une maîtrise en Artefacts de mode au London College of Fashion a été le passage parfait et bien sûr pour moi, il a permis l'expression et

EST-IL FACILE DE PENETRER LE MARCHE? Chaque nouveau concepteur connaît sa rupture difficile sur le marché, il ya beaucoup de contraintes financières, surtout maintenant en raison de la récession, et il y a beaucoup de créateurs fabuleux - mais je pense que l'être à Londres fait partie intégral de tout concepteur et fabricant de vouloir le faire dans l'industrie.

¿QUÉ LE INSPIRÓ A CONVERTIRSE EN UNA VANGUARDIA JOYERÍA DE DISEÑO? Desde muy joven siempre he estado interesado en el arte y la artesanía, así que la fabricación de joyería en la vida real sólo se convirtió naturalmente en el próximo paso. Después de hacer mi licenciatura en el norte de Gales Escuela de Arte en Artes Aplicadas: Joyería, decidí que necesitaba algo más, crear más grande y más emocionante piezas de joyería, lo que podría ser visto como vestir y el arte dentro de su propio derecho. Así que haciendo una maestría en Artefactos de moda en London College of Fashion fue el movimiento perfecto y por supuesto para mí, es permitido que esta nueva expresión y la exploración en un concepto y materiales para crear objetos bellos (la moda y el arte).

¿DE DÓNDE SACAS LA INSPIRACIÓN PARA TUS DISEÑOS? El concepto para mi colección derivados de mi infancia las experiencias traumáticas de las muertes múltiples en la familia, y muchos fueron un resultado directo de los efectos del cáncer. Era un método catártico de usar mi traumáticas experiencias de la vida propia en mi práctica basada en el trabajo de estudio. La intención de la colección se yuxtaponen a la fealdad de la enfermedad y la "belleza" de cáncer, la metamorfosis de un cuerpo de una forma, a otra a través de la enfermedad y el tratamiento recibido.

RACHEL DEEMING – FASHION DESIGNER

WHERE DID YOU STUDY FASHION? After achieving my Btec National Diploma in fashion and clothing I went on to study at the University of Lincoln studying for a BA in Fashion Studies, after a year I transferred to Birmingham City University where I proceeded in achieving my BA (Hons) in Fashion Design where one of my designs was selected to promote the fashion course in the university prospectus 2009 shown at graduate fashion week.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WANTED TO BE A DESIGNER & DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN ANY EXHIBITIONS OR EVENTS? I have dreamt of becoming an established Fashion Designer since the age of eleven. I always remember as a teenager sitting up my grandparent’s kitchen table on a Sunday afternoon, scribbling away design ideas. I knew then that I needed to be in the ‘Fashion Industry’. I am always looking out for exciting competitions and exhibits that I can participate in. But I am hoping to set up my own exhibition this October!

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES THAT HAVE MADE ACHIEVING THIS SO DIFFICULT? I believe I have the potential, creativity and passion to become a successful designer. However it is somewhat financially difficult at present to be able to set up a label as there is much involved in this process, I am therefore taking one small step at a time and hopefully it will work out.

I SEE THAT YOU HAVE A JOB WITH A KNOWN RETAIL OUTLET – DOES THIS FRUSTRATE YOU? I do enjoy most aspects of the Fashion Industry, and as I am also a Sales Assistant at present I do take pleasure in helping the general public appreciate fashion and I love helping them put an outfit together. What frustrates me is selling mass produced garments when I myself am capable of designing unique pieces which have a much better quality of design, if only I had all of the resources to be able to set up my own label!

WHAT IS YOUR TARGET MARKET? I don’t have a strict target market as I believe as an independent Designer you should be capable of designing for a wide range of markets. I get bored and distracted very easily so I have to try new ideas therefore I could not stick to just one market. However I am prone to design garments for special occasions as I love creating pretty yet quirky dresses, but I am open to any suggestions from clients and will always deliver their design needs.

WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR DESIGNS? Most of my inspiration comes from all the scrambled information I have collated in my mind over the past

several years. Anything and everything inspires me from renaissance to a crack in the pavement, my ideas transpire and evolve with the outcome being completely different from my initial thoughts.

HOW DO YOU PROMOTE YOURSELF AS AN INDEPENDENT? As I have not long finished university I am still in the initial process of promoting myself, getting my name out there! I do have a Facebook account where clients can contact me for any design requests,

DO YOU OFTEN GET PRIVATE COMMISSIONS? At the moment I have only received small scale requests as I am still rather unknown but I do receive regular requests from Stylists regarding my work. And collaboration requests from Fashion Photographers.

I SEE THAT YOU HAVE ENTERED SOME COMPETITIONS AS A STYLIST – ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THIS OR ARE YOU JUST TRYING TO GET A FOOTHOLD IN THE INDUSTRY? My heart will always be focussed on designing but I also enjoy styling,

painting, decorating, photography, even gardening, anything that allows me to push the boundaries and be creative and expressive.

WHAT IS THE VISION FOR YOUR DESIGNS & LABEL IN 5 YEARS? I would love to be an established Designer whose creativity is appreciated internationally. I wish for my label to be successfully up and running with a respectable and diverse client base. And I hope to inspire!!!

Après avoir obtenu mon BTEC National Diploma à la mode et les vêtements je suis allé à l'étude à l'Université de Lincoln pour étudier un baccalauréat en études de la mode, après un an j'ai été transféré à Birmingham City University, où je me rendis dans la réalisation de mon BA (Hons) in Fashion Design où une de mes créations a été choisie pour promouvoir le cours de la mode en 2009 l'université prospectus montré à la semaine de la mode des cycles supérieurs.

QUAND AVEZ-VOUS VOULU ETRE UN CONCEPTEUR ET PARTICIPEZ-VOUS AUX EXPOSITIONS OU EVENEMENTS? J'ai rêvé de devenir styliste depuis l'âge de onze ans. Je me souviens toujours comme une adolescente assise a la table de cuisine des grands-parents un dimanche après-midi, quand je griffonnais des idées de mode. J'ai su alors que j'avais besoin d'être dans la 'industrie de la mode ". Je suis toujours à l'affût des compétitions passionnantes et des expositions que je peux participer. Mais je suis en espoir de créer ma propre exposition en Octobre!

QUELS SONT LES DEFIS QUI ONT FAIT DE LA REALISATION DE CE REVE SI DIFFICILE? Je crois avoir le potentiel, la créativité et la passion de devenir un concepteur de succès. Toutefois, il est un peu difficile financièrement à l'heure actuelle pour être en mesure de mettre en place un label car il ya beaucoup impliqués dans ce procès, je suis donc a petit pas en ce moment et j'espère que cela va fonctionner.

JE VOIS QUE VOUS AVEZ UN EMPLOI AVEC UN COMPTOIR CONNUS – ETES VOUS FRUSTREE PAR CA? J’adore la plupart des aspects de l'industrie de la mode, et comme je suis aussi une vendeuse à l'heure actuelle je prends plaisir à aider le grand public à apprécier la mode et j'aime aider à mettre un costume ensemble. Ce qui me frustre est la vente de vêtements fabriqués en série, quand je suis capable de concevoir des pièces uniques qui ont une meilleure qualité de conception, si seulement j'avais toutes les ressources nécessaires pour être en mesure de mettre en place mon propre label!

QUEL EST VOTRE MARCHE CIBLE? Je n'ai pas un marché cible stricte car je crois que en tant que concepteur indépendante, vous devriez être capable de concevoir un large éventail de marchés. Je m'ennuie très facilement et je dois donc essayer de nouvelles idées, donc je ne peux pas m'en tenir à un seul marché. Cependant, je suis inclinée à la conception de vêtements pour des occasions spéciales comme j'aime créer des robes assez différentes, mais je suis ouverte à toutes les suggestions des clients et sera toujours livrer leurs besoins de conception.

QU'ELLE EST L'INSPIRATION POUR VOS CREATIONS? La plupart de mon inspiration vient de tous les renseignements brouillés que j'ai rassemblé dans mon esprit au cours des quelques dernières années. Tout et n'importe quoi m'inspire de la Renaissance

VEO QUE ES USTED UN EMPLEO CON UN PUNTO DE VENTA CONOCIDOS - DE QUÉ MANERA LE FRUSTRADO? Me gustan las mayoría de los aspectos de la industria de la moda, y como yo también soy un Asistente de Ventas en la actualidad que tienen el placer de ayudar al público en general apreciar la moda y me encanta ayudar a ponerlos un equipo juntos. Lo que me frustra es la venta de las prendas producidas en serie cuando yo mismo soy capaz de diseñar piezas únicas que tienen

una mejor calidad de gran parte del diseño, si yo tuviera todos los recursos para poder crear mi propio sello!

¿CUÁL ES SU MERCADO OBJETIVO? No tengo un mercado objetivo estricta ya que creo que como diseñador independiente debe ser capaz de diseñar para una amplia gama de mercados. Me aburro muy fácilmente y distraído así que tengo que probar nuevas ideas por lo tanto yo no podía quedarme a un solo mercado. Sin embargo, estoy propenso a diseñar prendas para ocasiones especiales como yo quiero crear bonitos vestidos extravagantes aún, pero estoy abierto a cualquier sugerencia de los clientes y siempre entregan sus necesidades de diseño.

¿QUÉ ES EL INSPIRACIÓN PARA TUS DISEÑOS? La mayor parte de mi inspiración viene de toda la información que he recopilado revueltos en mi mente durante los últimos años. Cualquier cosa y todo lo que me inspira desde el renacimiento a una grieta en el pavimento, mis ideas transpiran y evolucionar con el resultado ser completamente diferente de mis pensamientos iniciales

MY FAVOURITE TRACK ON YOUR ALBUM IS “TALK ME OUT OF MY CLOTHES”…I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THAT IT WAS THE VOICE OF THE EX ARSENAL FOOTBALL PLAYER/ TURNED RAPPER SEFYU – BUT IT TURNS OUT THAT YOU HAVE ONE OF FRANCE’S WELL-KNOWN….SOULEYMAN DIAMANKA! HOW DID YOU 2 MEET & COLLABORATE ON THE PROJECT? After I was introduced and very

impressed by his work and he to mine. His sister & her brother in law proposed the idea of doing a collaboration on “TALK ME OUT OF MY CLOTHES”. We both agreed that it would be nice and went for it.

I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE DONE THE VOCAL SCORE FOR “EXIT WOUNDS” AND THAT YOU ALSO DID SOME WORK WITH CHRIS ROCK ON THE MOVIE “GOOD HAIR”….TELL ME MORE? Exit wounds was a wile back at the time I was in a circuit of Film and commercial production company's so I did some cool jobs including, Mattel Toy commercials, Cabbage Patch Doll, Match Box etc.I've had the honor to work with Marcus Miller ( Multi Grammy Award winner for Producer/bass guitarists/) for a number of years some of the work we have done includes, Chris Rock's "Every One Hates Chris", and a couple of his movies, “GOOD HAIR” and "I Think I love My Wife" it was great.. Chris even helped produce the vocal idea I did on "I Think I love My Wife". Its the Tina Marie Rick James Spoof in response to his last line " I guess I love my wife" YOU ARE A VERY BUSY AND DETERMINED WOMAN – WHO SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT SHE WANTS…HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN OUT THERE HIDDEN IN THE BACKGROUND DOING THIS….AND FROM ALL APPEARANCES GETTING SOMEWHERE STEADILY?
