Theta Brothers, The days of summer have come and gone, and the men of Theta Chapter are well underway with what I’m sure will be another fun and exciting semester. Theta Chapter had a successful spring, initiating six new members and achieving a chapter GPA of 3.094. During Greek Week we were paired with the women of Sigma Sigma Sigma and the men of Sigma Nu, and we finished in the top five for several categories. Our annual philanthropy “Bringin’ in the Heat,” an indoor volleyball tournament, raised over $6,000 for the Shelter of Columbia, a safe haven for victims of domestic violence. Theta Chapter saw great success this summer at the Alpha Gamma Rho National Convention, bringing home awards in several categories and being named runner up for the Maynard Coe. Fall is here and with it is a promising new member class of 27 individuals bringing our total membership to over 100 brothers. CAFNR week preparations are in full swing, and our members are busy as ever as we begin homecoming planning, hoping to once again bring home a first place finish. This year we are paired with the women of Kappa Delta and the men of Zeta Beta Tau, both of which are already proving to be driven, hardworking organizations. The brothers at Theta Chapter are looking forward to football games, tailgates, socials and the numerous other events that are still to come in this busy semester. However with all of these festivities the men of Theta Chapter are constantly striving to “Make better men, and through them a broader and better Agriculture.” I welcome all of you to stop by the house and see firsthand the great things that are going on at 602 S. College. Fraternally, Logan Chrislaw #1591 Noble Ruler Our Chapter captured several honors and awards at the 2010 Convention. We are honored to be one of only 10 AGR Gold Star Chapters. This honor is given to chapters who achieve all of the requirements for six of the seven caterogies. Theta Chapter qualified in all seven, receiving awards in five of those areas. We received Highest Honors for Promise and Values; High Honors for Alumni Relations, Chapter Website, and Best Single Issue of the Crescent; and Honorable Mention for Membership Development. In addition, our Housemom, Marty Napier was recognized for Best Chapter Management Program, and the Building Association received Honorable Mention as the Best Alumni Corporation. 2010 Awards www.mizzouagr.com
