    A VOLUME OF SELECTED STUDIES ON

    ANTONIO SALIERI S MUSIC

    The Antonio Salieri Foundation of Legnago (Verona), Italy, intends to publish a volume of selected studies dedicated to the music of Antonio Salieri. Proposed studies, in Italian or English and not longer than 30 typed pages (30 lines a page, 60 characters a line), may be on any aspect of Salieri's musical production and may have music examples.

    In order that the volume can be published within 1996, papers must be received by the Secretary of the Foundation by 31 May 1996. They must be sent anonymously, inside a plain envelope free of any particular sign by which the author could be identified, with the name and full address of the author in a separate, equally plain envelope.

    The examining board, to be chaired by Rudolph Angermiiller (Mozarteum, Salzburg), will include Francesco Degrada (University of Milan), Carolyn Gianturco (University of Pisa) and Friedrich Lippmann (German Historical Institute, Rome). The Secretary is Elena Biggi Parodi.

    In addition to having their studies published, winning authors will receive L.500,000 (five hundred thousand Italian lire).

    EDITORIAL The Editorial Board announces that KATHAR- INE ELLIS has been appointed an editor of Music &f Letters with effect from the present issue.

    'MUSIC & LETTERS' AWARD

    The Editorial Board has made a grant to Kathar- ine Ellis towards costs incurred during research in Paris in connection with three projects, notably a study of the early music movement in nineteenth- century France.
