What is the WEBCOMM?

• The committee is the working group of EGEA members that take care and develop the main tool of communication in EGEA: THE WEBSITE

How does the WEBCOMM work?

• Structure• Speaker, that will represent the

committee in EGEA, coordinate the activities and the goals and plans. And will coordina the report of the activities done.

• Members. Eventually, members can be organised in Tasks Groups.

How does the WEBCOMM work?

• Tasks• Moderating the current website• Developing New Website: webmaster tasks• Defining the new Website structure, contents and

visibility. Hot topics here are:• Front page• Thematic Groups• Entity pages• Congress pages• Member pages• Design• Publications section• ...

How does the WEBCOMM work?

• Collecting information about EGEA (protocols, committees working papers, etc) and editing it for online publication

• Deciding about the edition of scientific/geographic articles in different sections of the new website

• Geotechnologies Team: Thinking group of how to implement the new technologies in geography and maps in the website (ex. gadgets,e tc..)

• New website testers• Teaching new WEBCOMM members to gurantee

the continuity of the commitee

Goals of the WEBCOMM

• Some realistic goals will be defined in the WEBCOMM during next meeting.

• Existing goals• Analyzing necessary functionalities • Collecting proposals from users • Manage the website creation• Training Egeans to deal with Drupal* in

different levels. • Have a live meeting before the end of 2008

* Drupal is the system it is going to be used in the new website

WEBCOMM Motivations

• Egea website needs a renovation not only technical but conceptual.

• A big challenge comes for the webcomm: the construction of a new website

• Make Egea website more suitable for egea needs.

• WEBCOMM implies it is not only limited to the website but compromises the whole egea communication strategy.

website, those skills are not needed. The new website can be managed without having to script anything.
