Page 2: The two sides of leavening

To define what spiritual leaven is

To gain understanding on why leaven was not used in the Passover offering but was during the Pentecost ceremony

To understand why even small sins makes us unacceptable to God

What does it mean to be leavened with righteousness

Page 3: The two sides of leavening

It is an ingredient used in bake goods

It causes a permanent change in the dough It softens it

Makes it lighter

Makes it larger

Page 4: The two sides of leavening

Here is a list of many different types of leavenYeast/yeast extractbaking powder baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) monocalcium phosphate sodium aluminum phosphate (SALP) sodium acid pyrophosphate (SAPP) ammonium bicarbonate (hartshorn, horn salt, bakers ammonia) potassium bicarbonate (potash) potassium bitartrate (cream of tartar) potassium carbonate (pearlash)

This is not a surprise!!

We know we can’t eat leavening on Passover

We are studying the Pentecost!?

There is a connection between both feast days

Leavening helps understand that connection

Page 9: The two sides of leavening

Remember whenLeaven represented sin during the passover

Just like leaven you can see it in things you recognize quickly

It can exist in tiny amounts in places you never suspected

Page 10: The two sides of leavening

Sin changes you just like leaven changes the nature of dough

God will not accept any sin at any time!!

He did not accepted when Moses sinned!

He did not accepted when Cain sinned!

He does not accept it when you sin!!

Page 11: The two sides of leavening

God is mercifulHe gives us a space of time to remove the leaven from our lives

So that we can be an acceptable offering unto him

Moses took advantage of this time

Cain did not!

If we want to gain acceptance by God we must remove leaven from our lives

Page 12: The two sides of leavening

God is so merciful that he gives us teachers The Holy Spirit is one of them

He teaches how to remove sin from our lives

In this way we become unleavened

Page 13: The two sides of leavening

We are almost there

Remember that wave sheaf that is presentedbefore God

It represents our first fruits that we must give to God

It is also used in the wave offering that is used during Pentecost

Page 14: The two sides of leavening

A special offering made with leaven!

This represents a different type of leaven

It shows what happens when the Holy Spirit works with a clean vessel

A change occursOur minds expand

We become stronger in God’s word

Page 15: The two sides of leavening

It should be noted that God’s word has a powerful impact just like leaven

Only when we are leavened perfectly with righteousness

Are we acceptable before God

Page 16: The two sides of leavening

Can change us

We will go in greater detail with the next lesson

Which will be the works of the Holy Spirit
